BASIC FUNCTION:

TheManager Workers Compensationwillmanage the operation of a team of examiners and technical staff for the Risk Management department; provide training monitor individual claims activity and provide technical/jurisdictional direction to examiner reports on claims adjudication; and maintain a detailed diary on claims including frequent diaries on complex or high exposure claims.

E Essential Functions

  • Identify trends problems and issues and recommend a course of action. E

  • Identify new procedures and ideas for continuous process improvement.E
  • Compile review and analyze reports and take appropriate action.E
  • Perform quality review on claims in compliance with audit requirements and standards.E
  • Act as second level of appeal for claimant issues regarding claim specific procedural or special requests; implement final disposition of the appeal.E
  • Review reserve amounts on high-cost claims and claims over the authority of the individual examiner.E
  • Monitor and maintain periodical review of litigated claims serious vocation rehabilitation claims questionable claims and sensitive claims.E
  • Verify direct reports are properly licensed in the jurisdictions serviced.E
  • Ensure claim files are coded correctly and adequate documentation is made by claims examiners. E
  • Train and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; provide for continuing departmental staff training programs; interview and select employees and recommend transfers reassignment termination and disciplinary actions. E

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

Any combination of training experience and/or education equivalent to Bachelors degree from an accredited institution in risk management business administration public administration or related field and five (5) years of claims management experience including three (3) years supervisory experience

Licenses and Other Requirements:

Self-Insurance Administrators license may be required.
