Description:

Position Purpose:

In accordance withthe Mission and GuidingBehaviors;the Manager will provide care in an atmosphere sensitive to each persons physical emotional social and spiritual needs with respect to the beliefs and values of co-workerspatientsand their families. The Manager functions in the spirit of teamwork with other hospital and center staff members tofacilitatethe daily operations of the sterile processing area of the Surgical Care Center. The statementscontainedhereinreflect the general expectations and duties considered necessary to describe the principal functions of the job asidentifiedand shall not be considered as a detailed description of all the expectations or work requirements which may be inherent in the position.

Whatyou willdo:

Managing Performance:

  • Fostersan environment that promotes professional growth and development.

  • Maintains24 houraccountability for supervision of the Sterile Processing areas.

  • Participates in the recruitmentselection training development and retention of effective and efficient staff in the Sterile Processing areas.

  • Mentors coaches evaluates and disciplines staff in the Sterile Processing areas.

  • Participates in the planning and implementation of orientation and ongoing staff education programs toassurestaff competency and skill levels.

  • Assuresthatappropriate staffisassigned to designated areas according to service levelson a daily basis.

  • Assures accuracy of the bi-weekly payroll system for departmental associates andmonitorsthe appropriateness and efficiency of worked hours.

  • Maintains the standards and recommended practices for the Sterile Processing area and serves as a clinical and technical resource person and role model for staff.

  • Supports fair and consistent Human Resource policy execution.

Planning:

  • Assistsin the development of the departmental strategic plan for designated areas.

  • Plans for adequate staffsuppliesand equipment tomaintainoptimalservice levels in designated areas.

  • Collaborates with all members of the healthcare teams toanticipateneeds.

  • Plans foroptimaluse and maintenance of and upgrades for the instrument tracking software application.

Financial Performance:

  • Assistsin the planning development implementation and evaluation of annual budgets and contracts for designated areas.

  • Monitors cost-effective use of human and material resources in designated areas.

  • Achieves andmaintainsproductivity standards.

  • Performance Improvement:

  • Assistsin the development implementation and monitoring of policies procedures and protocols for designated areas based on Sterile Processing standards of care regulatory and legislative standards organizational qualityobjectives safety and risk management standards andoptimalpatient outcomes

  • Assistsin the planning implementation and evaluation of the departmental performance improvement plan for designated areas and assures adherence to quality monitoring standards.

  • Manages risk and safety issues in designated areas.

Communication:

  • Fosters a collaborative working environment for all team members and staff.

  • Supports interdepartmental andintradepartmentalcommunication and cooperation.

  • Participates in or delegates participation in Perioperative and organizational committees and task forces that relate to the goals and mission of the designated area.

  • Participates in regular staff meetings with designated staff to communicate goalsobjectives plans and progress.

  • Makes rounds of the Processing areas on a regular basis throughout the day.

  • Assurestimelycommunication to theappropriate personnelregardingrequests changes conflicts needs conflicts and/or unusual occurrences.

  • Communicatesproblems issues or needs as they arise to the Administrative Director of Perioperative Services.

Provides performance feedback and /or counseling to staff whenappropriate perhospital and departmental policy.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education:Associates Degreerequired. Bachelors degree or IAHCSMM Certified Healthcare Leader (CHL).

  • Licensure / Certification: IAHCSMM technical certificationafter 6 months.

  • Experience: Minimum of twoyearsrecent and relevant supervisory/managerial and clinical experience.

  • Effective Communication Skills

  • Evidence of strong interpersonal skills anddemonstratedability to work collaboratively.
