Job Summary

SPX is seeking a Manager SEC Reporting to play a key leadership role in the Companys SEC filings earnings process technical accounting matters and external reporting activities. This position will coordinate the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements and related footnote disclosures support non-periodic SEC filings and partner cross-functionally with Corporate Accounting business unit finance teams external auditors and advisors. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting and SEC reporting experience sound judgment attention to detail and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative fast-paced public company environment.

Principle Duties & Responsibilites

  • Lead the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements and related disclosures for SEC filings.
  • Prepare review and present key quarterly and annual financial reporting information to senior leadership.
  • Support the preparation and review of non-periodic SEC filings and other external reporting deliverables.
  • Research and document technical accounting conclusions for new and existing accounting matters.
  • Coordinate with outside advisors on pension postretirement and other specialized reporting matters.
  • Provide coaching guidance and day-to-day support to team members involved in SEC reporting activities.
  • Partner with other departments and external auditors to manage financial statement issuance timelines quarterly reviews and annual audit activities.
  • Prepare and review audit support and other documentation provided to external auditors.
  • Collaborate with business divisions on accounting matters reporting questions and issue resolution.
  • Review financial statement schedules and supporting analyses prepared by Corporate Accounting.
  • Support acquisition-related accounting activities including purchase accounting valuation support opening balance sheet procedures and integration efforts.
  • Manage reporting activities to ensure internal and external deadlines are achieved.
  • Oversee aspects of the consolidation process and OneStream reporting tool management.
  • Review statutory financial statements and related reporting matters across various jurisdictions.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP SEC reporting requirements and public company financial reporting processes.
  • Experience researching and documenting technical accounting matters including preparation of accounting position papers or memoranda.
  • Familiarity with recent accounting guidance and complex accounting areas such as revenue recognition leases business combinations and related disclosure requirements.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams business unit finance leaders external auditors and advisors.
  • Highly organized and self-directed with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications particularly Excel Word and Outlook.
  • Experience with OneStream or similar consolidation and reporting systems preferred.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or a related field required.
  • CPA designation preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in SEC reporting public accounting corporate accounting or a related financial reporting role.
  • Experience with periodic and non-periodic SEC reporting requirements required.
  • Public company experience Big 4 or national public accounting firm experience and experience working with external auditors preferred.
