We are currently in search of a Manager People and Operations for a Social Services Nonprofit. The position is Hybrid in Washington DC. This is a part-time temporary to permanent position.

Is This Your Dream Job The Manager People & Operations plays a critical role in supporting the Deputy Chief & Chief Financial Officer and Director Operations by coordinating and executing key People & Culture and Business Operations functions that support the organizations workforce and organizational effectiveness. This position serves as a central resource for leadership and staff ensuring the consistent implementation of human resources processes organizational policies internal operations and administrative systems. Must be capable of both in-person and remote work. This position is intended to be temp-to-hire.
Our Ideal Candidate:
5 years of People & Culture or HR Operations experience required
Bachelors degree or equivalent experience required
Working knowledge of HR compliance and employment-related policies and practices; HR certification preferred
Experience supporting recruitment and onboarding processes including coordination of hiring activities and candidate experience
Proficiency in project management tools ( Trello Asana) Microsoft Office Suite (Teams Word Excel PowerPoint SharePoint OneDrive Outlook)
Strong administrative and organizational skills and attention to detail
Proven ability to work as part of a team and independently
Knowledge of and experience working on issues related to trauma (e.g. domestic violence gender-based and power-based violence sexual assault/violence stalking human trafficking). Understanding of the dynamics of trauma and ability to work within a trauma-informed framework
How You Will Spend Your Day:
Recruitment and Onboarding
Manages full-cycle recruitment logistics including communication with hiring managers candidates and recruiting partners.
Coordinates interview scheduling prepares panel materials and maintains organized recruitment documentation.
Submits hiring recommendation packets and supports offer processing and personnel actions.
Oversees onboarding logistics and conducts new hire orientation to ensure a consistent welcoming experience.
Employee Relations
Serves as the primary contact for daytoday HR inquiries and routine employee support.
Triages employee relations matters conducts factfinding and supports investigations and performance management.
Coordinates leave administration workers compensation cases and benefits-related support.
Provides guidance on HR policies payroll processes and documentation requirements.
Manager Support
Advises managers on supervision performance management and employee relations issues.
Ensures consistent application of organizational policies and internal practices.
Coaches managers on documentation counseling statements and performance improvement processes.
People and Culture Systems and Process Execution
Maintains and improves core P&C processes including onboarding performance management compensation and offboarding.
Manages P&C and Recruiting inboxes and ensures accurate compliant employee records across HR systems.
Coordinates compliance with organizational policies grant requirements and employment laws.
Supports compensation changes P&C audits internal communications and development of HR resources.
Business Operations
Supports office setup workspace organization and file digitization.
Coordinates IT asset tracking and equipment inventory management.
Assists with procurement contract processes and organizational policy review.
Manages the Operations inbox and triages requests across teams.
Provides routine operational support including supplies logistics vendor coordination and light IT support.
Tracks crossfunctional tasks and compliance requirements; escalates operational gaps as needed.
Maintains operational workflows documentation and systems.
Non-Managerial Leadership and Collaboration
Builds strong working relationships and models discretion flexibility and cultural sensitivity.
Shares resources mentors teammates and supports a collaborative continuouslearning environment.
Participates in coaching professional development and identification of team training needs.
Helps foster an innovative improvementoriented organizational culture.
