Job Summary

R. J. Corman Railroad Company is currently seeking a Manager of Mechanical Training & Operating Compliance to join our team in Nicholasville KY.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support mechanical safety programs across railroad operations.
  • Develop and deliver safety training for mechanical employees and oversee training records certifications and compliance requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with FRA OSHA GCOR AAR and company safety standards.
  • Conduct safety audits inspections job observations and compliance reviews.
  • Lead investigations involving incidents injuries accidents and near misses; identify root causes and corrective actions.
  • Partner with mechanical leadership to implement safety initiatives policies and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and recommend updates to safety programs and procedures.
  • Analyze safety performance metrics and prepare compliance reports.
  • Participate in risk assessments and hazard mitigation activities.
  • Support special projects emergency response efforts and other duties as assigned.
  • Travel up to 80% as business needs require.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Specialized or Technical Knowledge or Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Safety Engineering Railroad Operations or related field; equivalent railroad experience may be considered.
  • Railroad management or operations experience.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical department operations and railroad safety regulations.
  • Experience delivering technical and safety training.
  • Experience conducting audits incident investigations and compliance reviews.
  • Strong communication leadership coaching and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and reporting systems.
  • Valid Drivers License required.
  • CSP ASP OHST CHST or similar certification preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in rail yards locomotive shops and outdoor environments.
  • Frequent walking on ballast and uneven terrain.
  • Ability to stand climb bend and inspect equipment for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.

Environmental Conditions:

  • Exposure to rail operations moving equipment shop environments noise and varying weather conditions.
  • Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Frequent travel and overnight stays.
