First MainStreet Insurance (FMSI) a TrueNorth entity is seeking a Human Resources Manager with deep expertise in the industries we serve to join our team in Cedar Rapids IA. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and supporting key human resources functions across the organization including talent acquisition onboarding employee relations training and development HR operations compliance performance management and colleague engagement. This role partners closely with leaders across the enterprise to deliver strategic and operational HR support while fostering a positive colleague experience and maintaining alignment with organizational goals and culture.

Essential Job Functions

Manage all aspects of the talent acquisition process including meeting with leaders to determine staffing needs building candidate pipelines sourcing talent recruiting interviewing and onboarding.

Develop and communicate annual staffing strategies and workforce planning initiatives to maintain acceptable time-to-fill metrics and support organizational growth.

Champion the organizations employer brand and creatively source and evaluate candidates within the community by cultivating relationships with business leaders colleges universities and professional organizations to enhance visibility and attract top talent.

Ensure proper candidate requisition vetting including background checks reference checks and employment eligibility verification through E-Verify and present employment offers and maintain equity in compensation.

Develop and implement comprehensive 30/60/90-day onboarding plans for new hires and internal transfers to support successful integration role clarity and early performance alignment.

Coordinate onboarding logistics and ensure workforce and team responsibilities are completed accurately and consistently prior to employee start dates.

Build and implement core insurance advisory and professional development training programs and tools to support colleague engagement and learning effectiveness.

Maintain learning records and support compliance training completion.

Ensure alignment between colleague development initiatives and organizational integration efforts.

Ensure compliance with federal state and local employment laws by maintaining required postings documentation audit support and reporting requirements including annual EEOC reporting.

Coordinate and maintain workplace postings and documentation and support investigations claims audits and requests for information in partnership with HR leadership and legal counsel.

Maintain accurate employee records within the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) including ADP and personnel files ensuring confidentiality data integrity and timely updates for hires transfers and terminations.

Assist with disciplinary actions separations and offboarding processes including preparation of documentation coordination of meetings final checklists and exit interviews.

Coordinate and support performance management processes including timelines communications system administration tracking completion and maintaining documentation in accordance with company policy.

Assist in coordinating scorecards performance reviews reflections and colleague feedback initiatives.

Build and coordinate employee engagement surveys communicate findings and elevate concerns and recommendations as appropriate.

Serve as the employee benefits administrator by coordinating enrollments changes leave administration and employee inquiries while partnering with carriers and vendors to resolve issues.

Support payroll administration through timely personnel updates and assistance with timecards pay inquiries bonuses PTO/RTO administration and leave coordination.

Respond to and resolve colleagues questions submitted through the HR inbox within established service level expectations.

Manage company recognition efforts related to life events anniversaries memorials retirements and employee appreciation initiatives.

Assist with planning and execution of employee engagement activities and company events including benefits enrollments mtgs celebrations retirement and recognition events.


Credentials

Four-year degree in human resources business administration organizational development or related field preferred.

Minimum of three years proven success and experience in human resources talent acquisition employee relations onboarding training and development or related HR functions.

Knowledge of employment laws HR best practices benefits administration payroll processes and performance management.

Experience with AI Microsoft Office including Word Excel Outlook and basic PowerPoint functions

Experience with HRIS systems such as ADP and Learning Management Systems (LMS)

Certification in benefits or as a professional in Human Resources (HCRI or SHRM) preferred


Physical Demands:

The primary language of First MainStreet is English. Excellent communication skills are defined as the ability to actively listen for total comprehension ask questions that enhance the understanding of a certain topic and relay information and/or instruction in a descriptive and understandable fashion in both written and verbal forms. Occasional lifting up to 20 lbs. may be necessary from time to time. Must be able to sit for long periods of time view a computer monitor and type (up to 8 hours a day). Specific vision abilities required include close vision distance vision color vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus
