Manager Laboratory

• Manages Saint Lukes North Hospital Laboratory Services
• (Primarily) M-F 8am-5pm; on-call for Saint Lukes North laboratory services
• MLS - ASCP required
• Bachelors degree required
• 2 years of lab experience required
• Previous experience in a laboratory management/leadership preferred

Manages and directs all aspects of laboratory operations for the scientific discipline or SLHS Laboratory or Laboratories assigned. Maintains direct contact with daily operations to ensure optimal quality and quantity of workflow including responsibility for equipment procedures and methods education training and development budget performance and personnel selection and performance.

• Responsible for equipment selection and acquisition method validations and training/development of staff.
• Creates and implements applicable policies and procedures.
• Communicates available continuing education and professional development opportunities for staff; encourages staff growth.
• Manages operations to meet budgetary goals.
• Interviews and selects personnel and evaluates performance.
• Remediates and disciplines staff for variance from policies and procedures when appropriate.
• Oversees science discipline policies and procedures in assigned areas or laboratories to ensure consistency of guidelines protocols and regulatory compliance with the designated accrediting body (College of American Pathologists Joint Commission CLIA FDA as applicable).
• Works collaboratively with a variety of healthcare teams to ensure patient safety with respect to laboratory services.
• Sets priorities assigns responsibilities and establishes timetables for laboratory operation.
• Participates in long-term planning for Department and Hospital (when requested) and is responsible for Laboratory role in implementation.
• Promotes continuous improvement in laboratory to facilitate optimal patient care and compliance with standard of care practices.
