Job Description Summary
The Manager of Career Development Industry and Alumni Engagement serves as the colleges lead professional responsible for advancing student career readiness experiential learning employer engagement alumni relations and student success initiatives. Acting as the primary liaison between the College the Office of Career and Professional Development ( CPD ) employers alumni faculty and community partners this position develops innovative programming that supports students throughout the entire student lifecyclefrom prospective student through engaged alumni. The Manager provides individualized career coaching; develops employer internship and graduate school partnerships; oversees internship and mentoring initiatives; creates career programming; supervises peer career advisors; analyzes outcomes and workforce trends; and collaborates with campus partners to enhance student success belonging and career outcomes. This position acts as a liaison between the Deans faculty staff industry partners and CPD for the purpose of identifying the unique career-related needs of undergraduate graduate students and alumni pursuing careers in Sciences Technology Engineering and/or Mathematics ( STEM ) and healthcare. This role is responsible for professional networking and a high level of outreach to STEM and healthcare employers and alumni to build and maintain industry relations to benefit our students. This role will organize and analyze data to evaluate programs and services.

Responsibilities
Detailed Duties : Career Development and Student Advising Provide Schmid College undergraduate and graduate students and alumni with individual career services in developing career options strategies and resources in both 1:1 appointments and group settings. This includes but is not limited to resume/cover letter review graduate school applications and preparation interview preparation job/internship search career path explorations as it relates to STEM and healthcare. Develop and implement a pilot Schmid College shadow/mentoring program where current students can shadow and /or be mentored by Schmid College alumni with a similar occupation of their interest. Track student career outcomes and research participation. Plan and conduct/facilitate career development workshops classroom presentations and information sessions in partnership with Schmid faculty to integrate career readiness into curriculum. Oversee two career seminar courses with the option to teach for SCI 301 and SCI 401. Employee Industry Relations Develop and maintain relationships with employers industry partners healthcare organizations research institutions nonprofits and government agencies. Expand internship practicum research shadowing and employment opportunities. Conduct employer outreach and site visits. Partner with Career and Professional Development on recruiting initiatives. Coordinate employer networking events information sessions career fairs and mock interviews. Build local and regional employer partnerships. Serve as the professional development liaison to the deans advisory council subcommittee. Alumni Engagement and Mentorship Develop alumni engagement strategies supporting career development. Create mentoring and job shadowing programs. Recruit alumni speakers panelists mentors and employers. Strengthen alumni networking opportunities. Partner with Alumni Engagement on college-specific initiatives. Program Development Assessment & Data Analytics Conduct annual career outcomes assessments. Analyze workforce and employment trends. Create dashboards and reports. Utilize Qualtrics Handshake and institutional reporting tools. Evaluate program effectiveness. Recommend strategic improvements. Leadership & Peer Advisor Program Recruit train supervise and mentor student peer career advisors. Develop a training curriculum. Delegate projects and monitor performance. Create leadership opportunities for student employees. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Bachelors Degree or equivalent in education college student affairs counseling human resources or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum 3 years of professional experience in education counseling human resources or related field or a Masters Degree in any of these areas. Experience utilizing current career development principles and practices. Knowledge of labor market trends. Working knowledge of experiential education career development theory counseling techniques interest assessments e.g. MBTI Strong Interest. Ability to effectively problem solve with students faculty and staff. Experience advising students on career decisions; resume writing techniques and job search. Working knowledge of career education and services in higher education. Strong written communication skills to include development of reports memos handouts brochures and other promotional materials. Strong editing and proof-reading abilities. Strong verbal communication skills to include speaking in public and presenting training programs to small and large groups. Experience developing training programs and workshops. Ability to make administrative and procedural decisions and judgments. Demonstrated ability to plan coordinate and execute logistics for special events. Skill in adjusting priorities and adapting to an environment with changing needs. Ability to use tact and diplomacy and maintain a high level of confidentiality. Computer skills in using word processing spreadsheet database internet and email software and Microsoft Office Suite software. Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills with proven ability to work interact and solve problems with a diverse group of individuals at all organizational levels both inside and outside of the University. Technical skills to learn and use enterprise systems related to this position.
