Manager Accounting

SUMMARY:
The person in this position supervises effective and timely monthly US GAAP financial close and internal reporting including the consolidation preparation and analysis of financial statements for assigned regions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and enhance greater interaction with accounting operations in assigned regions
Execute and/or manage specific areas of accounting as assigned (e.g. capital reporting)
Interface with cash management on general ledger activities
Support the companys external reporting processes including the annual audit and quarterly reviews of the consolidated financial statements and other requests for services performed by the companys external auditors
Continually assess effectiveness and efficiency of accounting operations identifying and implementing opportunities for improvement as well as establishing and evaluating appropriate observable metrics
Support the companys mergers-and-acquisitions activities including participating in due diligence activities and ensuring effective integration of accounting processes
Support internal audit activities within sphere of influence
Supervise and train assigned staff
Manage other projects and perform other duties as assigned

REQUIRED SKILLS AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Transportation industry experience particularly railroad preferred
Good communication skills and the ability to deal effectively with all levels

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR CREDENTIALS:
Bachelors degree in accounting; CPA or MBA preferred
A minimum of seven to ten years of related experience; US public-company experience preferred
