POSITION TITLE: Mammography Technologist
REPORTS TO: Director of Clinical Business Services
CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt
POSITION SUMMARY: The Mammography Technologist operates radiologic equipment and performs mammography procedures to assist physicians in the diagnosis of disease. The mammography tech is responsible for detecting breast tissue abnormalities by completing mammographic imaging studies; presenting them for diagnosis.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- The following information is considered the definition of essential functions but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. The Mammography Technologist may be reassigned duties and responsibilities at any time due to reasonable accommodation or other staffing reasons.
- Perform/produce quality radiography and mammography exams in a safe and proper manner with all patients
- Takes general x-rays following established radiologic requirements and regulations to ensure patient care and safety
- 1 Position Title: Mammography Technologist
- Scan all necessary documents into the appropriate database for interpretation from the radiologist Gains patient cooperation by reducing anxieties; providing explanations of imaging procedures; explaining equipment; answering questions.
- Applies principals of radiation to minimize exposure to patients self and others
OTHER JOB RELATED FUNCTIONS:
- Practices aseptic/sterile techniques to prevent cross contamination. Clean the exam room and equipment after use and/or every patient
- Operates imaging equipment and other related radiology equipment such as computers copier scanners fax machine and printer
- Maintains safe secure and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures.
- Assist with registering patients scheduling appointments and importing and exporting CDs and reports.
- Assist coworkers with their duties
- Other duties as assigned by Radiology Director and Chief Information Officer
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Must have received a Certificate of completion from an allied health education and accreditation (AMA) accredited radiology program which meets requirements of the American Registry of Radiological Technologist
- Must be a certified mammography technologist with 40 hours of training completed 15 CMEs in the past 3 years and have performed 200 mammograms in the previous 24 months
- I year of experience performing screening and diagnostic mammograms
- 1 year of experience in radiology setting
- Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Must have excellent oral/written communication skills
- Must have Reliable Transportation

- Clinic hours are Monday - Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
