Position Summary
Dhaka Technologies Limited Company (DTLC) is hiring Maintenance Workers on behalf of our client a public housing agency serving the Roanoke Virginia area. This position performs unskilled and semi-skilled manual labor and light equipment operation in support of cleaning lawn care and general maintenance of the clients buildings offices common areas grounds parking lots and related facilities. The role includes general non-complex repair work as assigned. You will be employed and paid by DTLC and assigned on-site with our client.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform unskilled and semi-skilled manual labor across assigned public housing developments administrative offices common areas grounds and parking lots.
Operate light equipment safely in support of grounds keeping lawn care and maintenance tasks.
Perform cleaning and custodial tasks in buildings offices common areas and related facilities.
Perform lawn care and grounds maintenance including mowing trimming edging leaf and debris removal and seasonal grounds work.
Complete general non-complex repair tasks as directed by the assigned supervisor.
Apply pesticides and related grounds treatments where qualified and authorized.
Assist with trash and refuse removal parking lot upkeep and exterior property maintenance.
Operate a motor vehicle to travel between assigned property locations.
Comply with all applicable client policies and procedures including reading and acknowledging policies provided by the assigned department.
Submit a completed time card at the end of each work week documenting days and hours worked.
Follow all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards and all applicable federal state and local safety and occupational health standards including regulations issued by the Virginia Department of Labor and Industry under Title 40.1 of the Code of Virginia.
Remain available for the entire length of the assignment.
Requirements
Required Qualifications (Minimum)
High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate.
One (1) year of experience in one or more of the following: building and equipment maintenance equipment repair lawn care pesticide application and/or general maintenance work.
Must possess and maintain a valid Virginia Motor Vehicle Operators license (drivers license).
Minimum 18 years of age.
Available to work 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. five (5) days per week plus weekend and overtime work as needed.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
Legally authorized to work in the United States; employment eligibility verified through E-Verify.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience working in public housing multifamily residential or property management environments.
Experience with small engine and grounds equipment operation and basic upkeep.
Current or prior pesticide applicator certification.
Familiarity with U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) property standards.
Driving Record Requirements
A Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) record check is required. Applicants who may be considered for employment with the client will not be referred if the DMV record shows any of the following:
1. Any conviction for manslaughter negligent homicide or any other felony in connection with the operation of a vehicle.
2. Any conviction for operating under the influence of alcohol driving while impaired or operating under the influence of drugs within the last four (4) years.
3. Failure to take a blood alcohol test.
4. Conviction of driving on a license that is suspended revoked or denied within the last five (5) years; or loss of driving privileges due to license being suspended revoked or denied (for driving infractions) within the last five (5) years.
5. Conviction of two (2) or more moving violations within the last three (3) years.
6. Two (2) or more at-fault or primarily at-fault accidents within the last three (3) years.
7. Conviction of reckless driving within the last three (3) years.
8. Unlawfully leaving the scene of an accident.
9. Unlawfully transporting a controlled substance or hazardous material.
10. Any combination of violations accidents or similar events indicating poor attitude unsatisfactory driving skills or general inability to maintain a safe driving record.
Pre-Assignment Screening Requirements
All candidates must successfully complete the following before the assignment begins. DTLC arranges and administers this screening at no cost to the candidate.
5-Panel Drug Screening. Candidates who refuse to submit to drug screening or who fail a drug screen (excluding certified medical situations) cannot be referred for assignment.
DMV report review against the driving record standards above.
National Sex Offender Registry check. Individuals registered as sex offenders cannot be referred for assignment.
Criminal background check including a Commonwealth of Virginia Court Online Case Information System county background check and a national background check covering felony and misdemeanor convictions guilty pleas and no-contest pleas. A criminal record does not automatically disqualify a candidate; each record is reviewed on a case-by-case basis to determine whether the criminal activity is substantially related to the functions of the assignment.
Written verification that all pre-assignment requirements have been met is submitted to the clients hiring agent prior to assignment.
