SUMMARY/SCOPE:

Serves as MaintenanceTechnician; keeps campus facilities functioning for optimum educationalexperiences.

Assemblesinstalls and repairs pipes fittings and fixtures of heating water anddrainage systems by performing the following duties.

HSU JOB FAMILY CLASSIFICATION INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Studiesbuilding plans and working drawings to determine work aids required andsequence of installations.

Inspects structure to ascertainobstructions to be avoided to prevent weakening of structure resulting frominstallation of pipe.

Locates and marks position of pipe andpipe connections and passage holes for pipes in walls and floors.

Cuts openings in walls and floors toaccommodate pipe and pipe fittings.

Assembles and installs valves pipefittings and pipes composed of metals such as iron steel brass and leadand nonmetals such as glass vitrified clay and plastic.

Joins pipes by use of screws boltsfittings solder plastic solvent and caulks joints.

Fills pipe system with water or air andreads pressure gauges to determine whether system is leaking.

Installs and repairs plumbing fixturessuch as sinks commodes bathtubs water heaters hot water tanks garbagedisposal units dishwashers water softeners and irrigation systems.

BasicResponsibilities:

Overseecampus facilities repair and conduct preventative maintenance.

Assistin ensuring campus functions occur without any difficulties.

EssentialDuties:

Performwork orders as assigned. Performpreventative maintenance as required.

AdviseCampus Operations Director of outcomes and recommend further action as needed.Underdirection of Director of Campus Operations maintain plan for updating currentsystems and fixtures prior to complete obsolescence.

Ensurecampus irrigation systems are in optimal working order.

Monitorcondition of University equipment property and vehicles. Service asneeded.

Staycurrent on all local state and national codes and regulations

Ensureall licenses remain current.

Assistother technicians in the performance of their duties

Adhereto the HSU Personnel and Safety Handbook(s).

Performs other duties asassigned.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES (Language Mathematical Reasoning and Computer Skills):

LANGUAGE SKILLS:Ability to read and interpret documents such as safetyrules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Abilityto write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectivelybefore groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Abilityto add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and100s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money andweight measurement volume and distance.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry outinstructions furnished in written oral or diagram form. Ability to deal withproblems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

COMPUTER SKILLS: To perform this job successfully an individual should have knowledge of WordProcessing software Spreadsheet software Human Resources/Payroll systems for TimecardEntry Order Processing Software Internet etc.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma and 2-3 years minimum of relatedexperience required.

Technicaleducation and/or 1-2 years minimum of related experience is preferred.

Repair and Call-out Experiencepreferred.

CERTIFICATES LICENSES REGISTRATIONS:

Apprentice/Journeyman PlumbersLicense preferred (one opening Plumber IV DOE)

Plumbers (RMP) License preferred(one opening Plumber V VII DOE)

Able to achieve the abovelicensures within 12 months.

Backflow PreventionCertification is a bonus.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

This is aNon-Exempt/Hourly position. A regular 40-hour workweek is required plus occasionalovertime as this position does require employee to be on call periodically.

This positionrequires traditional work hours as well as regular weekend work and occasionalevening and/or holiday scheduled work in order to meet internal and/or externaldeadlines along with maintenance of emergencies etc.

Mustbe able to work flexible shift when required.

On-call duty isrequired when a response is necessary.

All hoursworked beyond 40 hours in a single work week will be compensated at time and ahalf per FLSA guidelines.

Must have anmaintain a valid Class C Drivers License and maintain a clear driving record tobe insurable under the university liability policy.

Must be able todrive to complete work assignments on and off campus as needed.

Additionaltravel may be required on occasion.

HSU MaintenanceUniform is provided and required to be worn while on duty.
