Job Summary

Overview:

Employee works for the Shop Manager. Works in maintenance inspection and repair of nursery farm equipment and farming irrigation systems. Capable of completing assigned tasks independently as well as with other mechanics. Fully supports equipment and repairs during season. Any other tasks assigned by management.

Heres what youll do:

  • Use safe practices and principles working around equipment and machinery
  • Troubleshooting repair installation and assessments of mechanical equipment such as pumps valves fittings gearboxes switches gauges and lubrication controls.
  • Perform repairs by adjusting cleaning and replacing worn or damaged parts
  • Perform preventative maintenance on panels motors and pumps
  • Repair and replace irrigation pipes valves fittings etc.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area
  • Hands-on shop & in-field assembling inspections cleaning documentation adjustments & replacements of various irrigation pump & motor mechanical equipment.
  • Occasional welding cutting grinding arc gouging and plasma cutting
  • Perform preventive maintenance on panels motors and pumps in the nursery and field. Report corrective actions as needed.
  • Perform live/dead test on electrical circuits
  • Inventory management
  • Any other tasks or responsibilities assigned by management

Qualifications :

Heres what youll bring to the table:

 

  • Ability to work alone without close supervision in remote areas
  • Be able to lift 50 lbs on a continuous basis and 100 lbs on occasion.
  • Be able to do continuous bending stooping and walking on a daily basis.
  • Must possess a valid California drivers license.
  • Have adequate leadership and communication skills to direct schedule and coordinate personnel and services.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English
  • Bilingual desired
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook) preferred
  • Works effectively individually and as part of a team to complete goals and tasks
  • Proficiency in mechanical electrical and hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
  • Ability to reason and communicate with management to understand priorities and balance workload and jobs assigned
  • Experience with maintenance management software various irrigation/fertigation systems and Argus is preferred.
  • Advanced welding cutting grinding arc gouging and plasma cutting skills
  • Advanced Hydraulic system maintenance and repair
  • Advanced 12-24v electrical system knowledge
  • Advanced AC/DC electrical diagnostic skills required
  • Advanced knowledge of HVAC maintenance and repair
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent is preferred
  • 5 years of experience in a maintenance related field
  • Experience using a variety of hand and power tools both electric and pneumatic.
  • The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; bend; twist; kneel; climb; reach with hands and arms above and below shoulders.
  • Must be able to lift independently 50 pounds frequently with assistance 100 pounds occasionally

OPTIONAL PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS AND LICSNSES:

  • Commercial Drivers License
  • Opacity Test Certification
  • Industrial electrical education
  • Welding Certification
  • MAC or ASC HVAC Recovery Certificate
  • Hydraulics
  • Manufacture Sponsored Advanced Repair/Maintenance training
  • FLEET/SHOP ASSITANT.
  • CMRP Certified Maintenance Professional
  • CMT Certified maintenance Technician
  • Preferred other certificates: Opacity Welding Electrician Manufacture Sponsored Repair/Maintenance training etc
  • Must be 18 years of age or older

 

Pay Rate: $24.00 - $30.00 per hour. Final Compensation will be dependent upon skills & experience.
