Job Summary

Description

The Maintenance Technician assists in the planned maintenance for the facility and participates in safety initiatives encompassing all facility equipment and processes to preserve the health safety and welfare of employees at the site. She/he helps with overall maintenance repair upgrades and improvements to the facility including repairs to greenhouse structures production equipment plumbing-PVC systems electrical systems and general housekeeping of the facility. The position requires basic to intermediate knowledge of mechanical electrical and plumbing systems with a focus on irrigation systems greenhouse maintenance and the installation and repair of production equipment.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Assist/organize repairs to mechanical equipment and machinery used in greenhouse operations as directed.
  • Perform preventative and scheduled maintenance on plant equipment.
  • Ensure functionality and reliability of all mechanical systems and report issues to management.
  • Install and maintain new equipment.
  • Communicate daily progress to management regarding tasks/assignments.
  • Complete all tasks in a timely manner.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and/or electrical issues.
  • Ensure company safety policies/OSHA compliance programs are in place and followed.


Qualifications

Skills & Competencies

  • Experience working with and repairing electrical systems and plumbing systems.
  • Ability to work extended hours and weekends regularly during peak season.
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds.
  • Ability to drive maintenance equipment-- forklifts bobcats electric carts (willing to get certifications as needed).

Requirements

  • Basic to intermediate experience working with and repairing electrical systems and plumbing systems
  • Ability to effectively use smart phone technology including use of apps email text etc
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to perform under minimal supervision and exercise independent judgment in problem solving
  • General if not better than average knowledge of power equipment hand tools light carpentry.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work well independently and in a diverse team environment.
  • Knowledge and experience with OSHA requirements/standards .
  • Bilingual in Spanish highly desired but not required.
