Primary Purpose

Perform preventative maintenance and mechanically related activitiesrequiredtomaintaintheDistrictsheating ventilating and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems. Routinely inspect clean lubricate and service HVAC equipment to ensure safe efficient and reliable system operation across district facilities.

Qualifications

Education/Certification

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Valid Texas Class-C drivers license and proof of insurability with District insurance carrier
  • EPA 608 Certification

Special Knowledge/Skills

  • Knowledge of HVAC preventative maintenance procedures
  • Basic understanding of plumbing electrical and mechanical trades
  • Ability to inspect HVAC components including motors belts contactors coils drains refrigerants and controls
  • Ability to read gauges meters temperature/pressure readings and basic wiring diagrams
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to diagnose and report system deficiencies
  • Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively
  • Effective organizational communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to utilize technology resources and work order management systems relevant to the position

Experience

  • One to three years of HVAC maintenance or mechanically related field experience preferred
  • Experience working with RTUs split systems heat pumps and ventilation systems preferred

Major Responsibilities and Duties

Maintenance and Repair

  • Review assignments from supervisor(s) and complete preventative maintenance activities effectively and efficiently
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance including inspecting cleaning lubricating adjusting and replacing filters belts and other HVAC components
  • Clean and service equipment components such as coils blower assemblies burners condenser sections and drain systems
  • Inspect system components for wear leaks performance issues and safety concerns
  • Assists service technicians with troubleshooting minor repairs and equipment startups as assigned
  • Ensure work areas are clean and equipmentisoperatingproperly before leaving job sites

Records and Reports

  • Complete preventative maintenance checklists and work orders accurately and in a timely manner
  • Document time utilization and materials/parts used on work order completion reports
  • Report equipment deficiencies and recommended corrective actions to the supervisor
  • Maintain accurate records to support equipment lifecycle planning and replacement forecasting

Safety

  • Practice a high standard of safety and site cleanup in the performance of all duties
  • Follow District policies and OSHA regulations including lock-out/tag-out procedures
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) asrequired
  • Report injuries and incidents immediately and participatein ongoing safety training

Frequent standing bending kneeling climbing ladders and working in confined spaces.

Frequent exposure to extreme temperatures noise dust vibration and electrical hazards.

Ability to lift and carry up to 55 pounds emotional control under stress and exercise sound judgment.

Safety:Contribute to the prevention of accidents and injuries by observing safety rules and District policypracticing the principles and skills taught in safety training wearing personal protective equipment asrequired reporting injuries and incidents immediately tosupervisors and being proactive in the ongoingefforts to improve and maintain workplace safety.
