Schedule: Full-Time Outdoor Yard Role
Hourly Compensation:$18.00 - $18.80 depending on experience
The Role
Devil Mountain Wholesale Nursery is seeking dependable Maintenance Staff to support plant health yard organization and overall nursery presentation throughout the seasons.
This role plays a critical part in maintaining plant quality monitoring inventory condition and ensuring the nursery remains clean organized and safe for employees and customers. Maintenance Staff work closely with Yard Management Inventory Buyers and Irrigation teams to protect plant health and operational standards.
What Youll Do
- Monitor plant condition and perform pruning fertilizing and general plant care
- Identify pest disease and plant health concerns
- Determine whether plant material can be restored or should be classified as spoilage
- Alert Inventory and Buyers regarding spoiled or overstocked plant material
- Tie trees to head-level wire and replace broken stakes
- Support irrigation monitoring and alert appropriate staff when issues arise
- Maintain yard cleanliness and organization (leaf blowing trash removal pallet placement shed organization)
- Utilize and maintain company-issued PPE and tools
- Support overall nursery safety and presentation standards
What You Bring
Required
- Strong knowledge of plant identification quality and health
- Ability to identify common pests and plant diseases
- Ability to work efficiently in outdoor conditions
- Attention to detail and proactive problem-solving
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
Preferred
- Nursery or landscape maintenance experience
- Experience with seasonal plant care practices
Work Environment & Expectations
This is a physically demanding outdoor role performed in varying weather conditions including heat cold wind and rain. Work is conducted on uneven ground surfaces with extensive walking required.
Physical requirements include:
- Standing or walking for extended periods
- Frequent bending twisting kneeling crouching and squatting
- Lifting up to 50 lbs (75% of the time)
- Team lifting up to 100 lbs (25% of the time)
- Gross grasping and frequent use of hands and fingers
PPE is required as applicable.
