Maintenance Repairer 1-2

One year of experience or training in the building construction trades building maintenance maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment or park operations and grounds maintenance; OR

Six semester hours in construction management construction technology or engineering or any combination of these courses.

Job Duties:

• Makes general repairs to buildings interiors exteriors furniture fixtures air conditioners heating systems and other mechanical and related fields such as plumbing carpentry electrical and painting tasks.
• Maintains and makes general repairs to a variety of motorized equipment including tune-ups replacement and adjustment of worn or damaged parts and assembly of major components to determine the extent of damage and repairs necessary.
• Operates and checks for safety and maintenance of a wide variety of hand held equipment motorized vehicles tractors etc.
• Repairs and treats structures such as floors showers sinks walls roofs carpets etc.
• Performs minor troubleshooting repairs and adjustments of locks on doors cabinets desks closets etc.
• Performs routine preventative maintenance to ensure machines run smoothly building systems operate efficiently or the physical condition of buildings is maintained.
• Operates large equipment to include but not limited to vehicles utility vehicles all-terrain vehicles front end mowers skid steers chippers tractors etc.
• Assist with custodial duties to maintain clean and sanitary conditions in the facilities. This includes cleanliness of interior and exterior of facilities to include cabins meeting rooms pavilions etc. Duties can include sweeping mopping removing trash and linens; cleaning picnic tables fire rings porches etc.
• Maintain grounds and trails to include trimming trees clearing dead trees or branches welding fertilizing road maintenance etc.
  

Position-Specific Details:
Location: Fontainebleau State Park in Mandeville LA
Appointment Type:Probational Promotion or Detail to Special Duty
Career Progression:This position may be filled as a Maintenance Repairer 1 or 2.
Work Schedule:State Parks are open 365 days a year. Position will work a rotating schedule of 40 hours/week which can include holidays and/or weekends as needed to ensure coverage at the park.
Travel:Position requires driving around the park as part of the daily shift. Travel may be required to other state parks to assist in staffing or events as needed. A state vehicle is available for employee use while on duty.
