Job Summary

A Mechanical Maintenance Technician orMillwright Iis an entry-level position in the field of industrial maintenance. Individuals in this roleare responsible forassistingin the maintenance repair and installation of mechanical equipment and machinery within various industrial settings. This position provides hands-on training and experience allowing individuals to develop the skills necessary to becomeproficientmechanical maintenance technicians or millwrights.

Position Responsibilities

• Assistin Equipment Maintenance: Work under the guidance of experienced technicians to perform routine maintenance and inspections on industrial machinery including pumps conveyors compressors turbines and other mechanical equipment.

• Learn Technical Skills: Gainproficiencyin using hand and power tools precision measuring instruments welding equipment and other machinery-specific tools through on-the-job training and classroom instruction.

• Troubleshooting:Assistin diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical problems byidentifyingdefects andparticipatingin repair and maintenance activities.

• Safety Compliance: Strictly adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure personal safety andmaintaina safe work environment. Wearappropriate personalprotective equipment (PPE).

• Tool Maintenance:Maintainand organize tools and equipment ensuring they are in good workingcondition. Learn proper tool handling maintenance and safety procedures.

• Blueprint Reading: Become familiar with mechanical blueprints schematics and technical drawings to understand the layout and configuration of mechanical systems and equipment.

• Material Handling:Assistinprocuringand organizing materials needed for maintenance and repair projects including replacement parts fasteners and other components.

• Documentation:Maintainaccuraterecords of work performed including work orders material usage and time spent on tasks. Document observations and outcomes of maintenance and repair activities.

• Communication: Develop effective communication skills to collaborate with senior technicians engineers supervisors and team updates on project progress and share information on equipment conditions.

• Training and Education:Participatein apprenticeship programs workshops and training sessions toacquirethe knowledge and skillsrequiredfor becoming a skilled mechanical maintenance technician or millwright.

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

• Strong interest in the mechanical maintenance field with a desire to pursue a career as a mechanical maintenance technician or millwright.

• Basic mechanical aptitude and the ability to work with tools and machinery.

• Physical fitness and the capability to work in various industrial environments which may include confined spaces and heights.

• Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

• Commitment to strict adherence to safety protocols and guidelines.

• Effective communication and teamwork skills.

• Reliability punctuality and a willingness to learn and follow directions from experienced professionals.

• Mechanical or technical coursework or certifications are a plus.

• Any prior experience or exposure to mechanical maintenance or industrial settings isadvantageous.

Physical Requirements

• MechanicalMaintenanceTechnicians Imust be physically fit and capable of performing tasks that may include standing for extended periods bending and lifting objects. They must exercise caution when working with electrical systems to minimize the risk of injury.

• Ability to lift 50 lbs. asrequired.
