The role of a Nucor Marion Mechanic is to work with the maintenance and operations teams to achieve the safest most efficient and most cost effective means of operation. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: maintaining troubleshooting repairing and upgrading all types of production equipment using their knowledge of hydraulics pneumatics power transmissions water systems welding machining and pipe fitting completing process improvement projects and providing mechanical support to operations. The qualified candidate must be willing and able to work rotating shifts holidays and weekends as required.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate lead and uphold safety policies practices procedures and housekeeping standards at all times.

Working knowledge of basic mechanical principles
Experience with working on hydraulic pneumatic and electrical maintenance and repairs
Ability to read and interpret schematic diagrams
Welding experience: MIG TIG ARC and stainless-steel welding techniques
3 years experience in industrial or military mechanical maintenance.

2-year or 4-year degree in mechanical or related field.
Experience maintaining overhead cranes.
Advanced training/certifications in Mechanical maintenance
Strong knowledge and experience with Preventative and Predictive Maintenance
Prior Steel industry experience in mechanical maintenance
Experience operating forklifts and/or other mobile equipment
