Maintenance Mechanic

Job Description

We are seeking a dependable and skilled Maintenance Mechanic to perform inspections maintenance and repairs on trailers and transportation equipment. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on mechanical work troubleshooting equipment issues and ensuring trailers remain safe and roadworthy. Travel to customer locations or service sites may be required.

Responsibilities

• Inspect diagnose and repair trailers chassis and transportation equipment
• Perform preventive maintenance on brakes suspension systems wheel assemblies lighting systems and trailer components
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical electrical and structural issues
• Replace damaged or worn parts including brake components bearings air lines lights mud flaps and suspension parts
• Conduct trailer inspections to ensure compliance with DOT and company safety standards
• Perform welding fabrication and minor structural repairs as needed
• Use hand tools power tools air tools and diagnostic equipment safely and effectively
• Maintain accurate service records and repair documentation
• Assist with emergency repairs and service calls when required
• Keep work areas clean organized and compliant with safety regulations
• Communicate with supervisors drivers and customers regarding repair status and maintenance needs

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Previous experience in trailer repair fleet maintenance diesel mechanics or a related mechanical field preferred
• Knowledge of trailer brake systems air systems suspension systems lighting and DOT regulations
• Experience with welding fabrication and trailer structural repairs preferred
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Ability to use hand tools power tools welding equipment and diagnostic tools
• Ability to lift heavy components and work in shop and outdoor environments
• Valid drivers license preferred
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Dependable detail-oriented and able to work independently and as part of a team
• Commitment to safety quality workmanship and preventative maintenance practices
