Maintenance Mechanic
Job Description
We are seeking a dependable and skilled Maintenance Mechanic to perform inspections maintenance and repairs on trailers and transportation equipment. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on mechanical work troubleshooting equipment issues and ensuring trailers remain safe and roadworthy. Travel to customer locations or service sites may be required.
Responsibilities
- Inspect diagnose and repair trailers chassis and transportation equipment
- Perform preventive maintenance on brakes suspension systems wheel assemblies lighting systems and trailer components
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical electrical and structural issues
- Replace damaged or worn parts including brake components bearings air lines lights mud flaps and suspension parts
- Conduct trailer inspections to ensure compliance with DOT and company safety standards
- Perform welding fabrication and minor structural repairs as needed
- Use hand tools power tools air tools and diagnostic equipment safely and effectively
- Maintain accurate service records and repair documentation
- Assist with emergency repairs and service calls when required
- Keep work areas clean organized and compliant with safety regulations
- Communicate with supervisors drivers and customers regarding repair status and maintenance needs
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous experience in trailer repair fleet maintenance diesel mechanics or a related mechanical field preferred
- Knowledge of trailer brake systems air systems suspension systems lighting and DOT regulations
- Experience with welding fabrication and trailer structural repairs preferred
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to use hand tools power tools welding equipment and diagnostic tools
- Ability to lift heavy components and work in shop and outdoor environments
- Valid drivers license preferred
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Dependable detail-oriented and able to work independently and as part of a team
