Maintenance Janitor

DESCRIPTION OF BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform routine cleaning and custodial functions at assigned site(s) and perform minor maintenance duties in the upkeep of site buildings and DUTIES:1. Clean classrooms rest rooms multipurpose rooms offices and related facilities.2. Sweep mop scrub wax vacuum and shampoo carpets and floors.3. Empty clean and line trash receptacles.4. Dust furniture window sills and shelves.5. Operate equipment such as vacuums floor cleaning and polishing machines scrubbers steam cleaners lawn mowers and trimmers.6. Respond to emergency cleanups such as spills and clogged drains.7. Set up and arrange furniture and facilities for assemblies lunch meetings and special events as assigned.8. Perform minor maintenance and repair to buildings fixtures and equipment; adjust shades/blinds and desks; assemble furniture.9. Assist in performing a variety of general maintenance tasks including painting light electrical work carpentry and plumbing as assigned.10. Lock and unlock doors windows and gates to ensure security of buildings and related areas; when installed turn alarms on/off.11. Inspect areas and grounds for vandalism damage and sanitary and safety hazards.12. Report hazards to appropriate authority and prepare work orders for major repairs needed.13. May perform routine grounds keeping duties as assigned which may include mowing watering lawn and weeding.14. May be required to be called in or work in addition to regular as necessary and as assigned.15. Perform other duties similar to the above in scope and function as STANDARDS:Knowledge of:- Modern cleaning methods materials tools and equipment associated with custodial work;- Routine repair methods and practices;- OSHA safety rules and regulations;- The safe use and operation of equipment and chemicals used in custodial and light maintenance work;- The care and maintenance of custodial and maintenance equipment and to:- Understand and follow oral and written instructions in an independent manner;- Safely use cleaning agents equipment and materials;- Keep simple records;- Work in addition to regular hours as necessary;- Meet the physical requirements necessary to safely and effectively perform required duties;- Communicate effectively in appropriate forms;- Establish and maintain work relationships with those contacted in the performance of required :-High School Diploma or GED-2 years Maintenance/ Custodial Experience-Steady and Verifiable Work History-Valid California Vehicle Operators License.-Spotless DMV Record & Criminal History- must be able to pass DOJ screening-Negative TB Test-Negative Drug TestPhysical requirements:1. Regularly performs heavy physical labor requiring ability to lift carry push pull and move heavy objects or materials.2. Requires great physical demand for strength and endurance involving heavy physical exertion.3.
