The State of Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is now accepting applications for two (2) Maintainerpositions.

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS:
  • Schedule: Part-Time (34 Hour)Tuesday-Friday (6:00 A.M. - 1:30 P.M.) and Saturday (6:00 A.M. - 12:30 P.M.)
  • Locations: Wethersfield and Danbury
  • Please Note:The Wethersfield vacancy is a floater it will be based in Wethersfield but may be responsible for providing coverage at other branches as operational needs arise including maintenance support when assigned.

THE ROLE:
As aMaintainer you will learn all aspects of DMV processes from dealing with all types of license plates forms etc. The selected candidate will be responsible for custodial work as well as performing minor maintenance repairs landscaping and using a computer for inventory purposes.

      At the DMV we are dedicated to protecting the health and safety of the motoring public through education outreach and enforcement in the areas of vehicle weight and safety inspections heavy duty diesel emission testing traffic enforcement and investigations of any motor vehicle related complaints.

      PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)

      In a state agency this class is accountable for performing basic tasks of an unskilled nature (e.g. requiring little prior experience or training; most tasks can be learned quickly on the job) in one or several of the following areas:

      • Building and equipment maintenance (operational and remedial);
      • Grounds care;
      • Food services;
      • Operation of trucks of less than five (5) ton capacity;
      • Parking garage.
      EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

      MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

      PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
      • Experience with custodial duties such as cleaning bathrooms vacuuming and cleaning floors.
      • Experience with inventory such as maintaining records for shipping and receiving.
      • Experience in Microsoft Suite Word and Excel.
      • Experience with maintenance of buildings and facility grounds which include landscaping.
      SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
      Incumbents in this class may be required by the appointing authority to possess and retain appropriate current licenses permits and/or certifications.
      PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
      • Incumbents in this class must have adequate physical strength stamina physical agility visual and auditory acuity and must maintain such physical fitness as to be able to perform the duties of the class.
      • A physical examination may be required.
      WORKING CONDITIONS
      • Incumbents in this class may be required to lift moderate to heavy weights and may be exposed to extreme weather conditions and risk of injury from equipment and assaultive and/or abusive patients and/or clients.
      • Incumbents in this class may be required to complete an asbestos removal program consistent with EPA guidelines for operations and maintenance during employment in this class. Incumbents may be required to use protective equipment such as respirators and safety goggles.
