Machinist

• The Lab Machinist position is responsible for performing precision machining operations on material and test samples.

• Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and vernier calipers.

• Machine parts to specifications using manual and/or CNC machine tools such as lathes milling machines shapers or grinders.

• Set up adjust and operate all of the basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools in order to perform precision machining operations.
• Study sample parts blueprints drawings and project managers information in order to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to fabricate products and determine product dimensions and tolerances.
• Select the appropriate tools machines and materials to be used in preparation of machinery work.
• Maintain industrial machines applying knowledge of mechanics shop mathematics metal properties layout and machining procedures.

• Prepare samples according to ASTM and ASME standards & customer requirements.

• Confer with project manager supervisory and manufacturing personnel in order to exchange technical information.

• Responsible for completion of task safety evaluations near miss and hazard reporting as required.

Qualifications :

• Education: a certified journeyperson holding a valid recognized credential (or more than 5 years of practical experience in machining)

• Experience : 2 years experience minimum
