Job Summary

Description

A Machinist II produces machined parts by programming setting up and operating CNC machines and manual equipment; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies. Using blueprints and design sketches to ensure the proper dimensions and tolerance levels of the finished product.

The following is a summary of the essential functions for the Machinist II position. Other Duties may be performed both major and minor which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Fabricate assemble and repair metal parts by operating mechanical equipment.
  • Program mills and lathes by entering instructions including zero and reference points; setting tool registers offsets compensation and conditional switches; calculating requirements including basic math geometry and trigonometry; proving part programs.
  • Set up mills and lathes.
  • Load feed mechanism by lifting stock into position.
  • Verify settings by measuring positions first-run part and sample workpieces; adhering to international standards.
  • Maintain specifications by observing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
  • Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance actions; following manufacturers instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
  • Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions irregularities and continuing needs.
  • Document actions by completing production and logs.
  • Other duties as assigned.



Qualifications
  1. 3-7 years experience with CNC mills and lathes
  2. CNC programming skills a plus
  3. Experience with Fanuc controls preferred
  4. Ability to comply with safety laws and regulations
  5. Ability to trouble-shoot machines to ensure that parts meet print specifications
  6. Able to read blueprints and measure with micrometers and other related measuring devices
  7. Basic Computer skills and familiar with Microsoft Windows applications
  8. Emphasizes personal and professional growth keeping knowledge and skills current
  9. Job function requires excellent vision
  10. Must have good written and oral communication skills and able to read and write in English.
  11. Self-motivated and strong attention to detail accurate and concise
  12. High School Diploma or GED
  13. Must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship
  14. Able to perform basic physical tasks such as standingfor long periods of time and lifting up to 50lbs
  15. Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.
