Job Summary
Seeking a manual machinist operator to be able to do sets up maintain traditional non-computerized equipment (like lathes mills and grinders) to shape metal or plastic parts turn blueprints into precision components by relying on precise hand-eye coordination math skills and calibrated measuring tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Equipment Operation: Set up and operate manual machines such as lathes milling machines drill presses and surface grinders.
- Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret complex engineering drawings schematics and blueprints to determine dimensions and tolerances.
- Precision Machining: Select cutting tools and precisely adjust feeds speeds and depths of cut to shape raw materials into finished parts.
- Quality Assurance: Inspect parts using precision measuring instruments (e.g. micrometers calipers) to ensure they meet exact specifications.
- Maintenance: Maintain manual machinery by routinely cleaning lubricating and making minor mechanical repairs.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
- Strong mechanical aptitude and spatial awareness.
- Proficiency in shop mathematics and geometry.
- Extensive knowledge of machining techniques (turning boring threading facing).
- Exceptional hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
Educational & Experience Requirements
- Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required alongside vocational/technical school training or a completed industry apprenticeship.
- Experience: 2 to 5 years of hands-on experience in a machine shop or industrial manufacturing environment are frequently expected.
