Job Summary
Primary Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Maintain and promote a safe working environment and safe work procedures. Conduct and/or facilitate safety training as needed within the department.
- Maintain and promote quality in all manufacturing activities and products.
- Develop and maintain a production schedule to support direct customer shipments and other departmental needs.
- Promote efficient work practices with an emphasis on value-added labor.
- Monitor and update time standards and scheduling expectations as needed.
- Communicate job expectations by planning monitoring and appraising job results; coaching counseling and disciplining employees; and initiating coordinating and enforcing systems policies and procedures.
- Maintain and improve staff performance through training and development.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the proper use of equipment resources and control points.
- Ensure compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Promote company policies and resolve personnel issues by analyzing information investigating concerns identifying solutions and recommending appropriate actions.
- Provide constructive feedback to all associated staff.
- Follow monitor and improve shop SOPs and processes including specific tested and approved welding procedures where applicable.
- Emphasize and train staff on desired product quality and aesthetics.
- Communicate effectively with other departments to ensure on-time production and delivery.
- Monitor equipment performance and promptly communicate operational repair needs and/or safety concerns.
- Develop and maintain an organized and efficient staging area within the department.
Minimum Qualifications and Skills
- Experience working in a machine shop environment including programming setup and operation of CNC Mills and Lathes.
- Strong problem-solving abilities.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to read interpret and work from production drawings and dimensional specifications.
- Ability to inspect and measure production parts using precision measuring instruments.
- Prior CNC machining experience required.
