Machine Shop Supervisor

Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

1. Maintain and promote a safe working environment and safe work procedures. Conduct and/or facilitate safety training as needed within the department.
2. Maintain and promote quality in all manufacturing activities and products.
3. Develop and maintain a production schedule to support direct customer shipments and other departmental needs.
4. Promote efficient work practices with an emphasis on value-added labor.
5. Monitor and update time standards and scheduling expectations as needed.
6. Communicate job expectations by planning monitoring and appraising job results; coaching counseling and disciplining employees; and initiating coordinating and enforcing systems policies and procedures.
7. Maintain and improve staff performance through training and development.
8. Maintain a safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the proper use of equipment resources and control points.
9. Ensure compliance with established policies and procedures.
10. Promote company policies and resolve personnel issues by analyzing information investigating concerns identifying solutions and recommending appropriate actions.
11. Provide constructive feedback to all associated staff.
12. Follow monitor and improve shop SOPs and processes including specific tested and approved welding procedures where applicable.
13. Emphasize and train staff on desired product quality and aesthetics.
14. Communicate effectively with other departments to ensure on-time production and delivery.
15. Monitor equipment performance and promptly communicate operational repair needs and/or safety concerns.
16. Develop and maintain an organized and efficient staging area within the department.

1. Experience working in a machine shop environment including programming setup and operation of CNC Mills and Lathes.
2. Strong problem-solving abilities.
3. High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
4. Ability to read interpret and work from production drawings and dimensional specifications.
5. Ability to inspect and measure production parts using precision measuring instruments.
6. Prior CNC machining experience required.
