Job Summary
Essential FunctionsConducts interactions with everyone in a friendly courteous and respectful out of his/her way to offer assistance to others. If he/she cannot offer assistance then finds someone who to ensure privacy and confidentiality while helping others to maintain a clean and safe appropriately and immediately in emergency a safe and healthy environment for patients visitors and/or staff to provide the highest level of physical comfort and minimize risk and compliance with regulations to maintain accreditation and with the Hospital Attendance and Tardiness all Hospital and Department Specific Mandatory requirements in the prior calendar Incidents in a timely and effective employees with direct patient contact are responsible for actively engaging in the practice of monitoring and enforcing compliance to hand (and reassesses) plans implements and evaluates nursing interventions/plans of care/patient patient care based on standards of care standards of practice protocols and established policies and each patient as an individual; provides care that fosters the patient s sense of dignity and positive patient/family teaching based on identified learning needs readiness to learn and barriers to plans and prepares patient/family for discharge incorporating support systems/resources as delegates and supervises nursing interventions performed by prioritizes patient care (e.g. seeks assistance as needed from appropriate resources reassigns personnel as necessary recognizes need for emergency intervention etc.).Provides thorough timely and accurate documentation of all pertinent data therapeutic interventions and patient responses according to established timely and thorough report on assigned patients to other health care team members to ensure integration of services and continuity of patient learning for colleagues and self (e.g. functions as preceptor instructor trainer attends professional development programs etc.).Proactively identifies risk to patient safety and identifies opportunities to reduce medical/health care errors (i.e. appropriate reporting of errors/incidents).Identifies ethical issues in care and develops plan to administers medications and intravenous therapy in accordance with physician s orders protocols policies and patient pain level upon admission and as necessary depending upon diagnosis utilizing the numerical pain effectiveness of pain control and notifies physicians as needed as well as documents assessment and patients response to for obtaining supporting information and completing required documentation related to medication reconciliation for use by the Attending with surgeon anesthesiologist clinical coordinator and surgical technicians to assure the patients well being during surgical sterile fields and directs the correct care handling and sterilization of sterile supplies and patients correctly by checking patient identification bands and consent forms as well as verifying operative procedure and site before taking patients to the operating principles of aseptic practice oversees the selection and preparation of supplies equipment and instrumentation to all surgical principles of body mechanics and adapts them to various situations during positioning and transfer of that all techniques and practices carried out during the surgical procedure are accurate and reflect standards of perioperative sponge needle and instrument counts according to policies and procedures including notifying the surgeon of the result of the labels cares for and handles all specimens and cultures according to established policy and RequirementsMinimum Education Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Minimum Work Experience O.R. nursing experience and CNOR strongly LicensesCurrent MA RN license. ACLS upon hire OR must hold an active BLS card and obtain AHA ACLS within 60 days of hireRequired SkillsAbility to function in an environment with competing priorities is a candidate must possess excellent communication skills ability to multitask and have a can-do attitude.
