Job Summary


- Provide respiratory care to patients with acute and chronic cardiopulmonary dysfunction.
- Initiate and manage ventilatory support including recommending settings weaning and troubleshooting ventilators.
- Follow therapist-driven protocols procedures and department policies using best practices.
- Perform and interpret diagnostic procedures (ABG draws sputum collection bedside spirometry capnography).
- Monitor patients respiratory status during intra- and inter-hospital transport.
- Attend Code Blues and Rapid Response Team (RRT) events.
- Assist with conscious sedation intubations and bronchoscopies in various hospital settings.
- Deliver care to neonatal and pediatric patients including tracheostomy and laryngectomy tube assessment and maintenance.
- Perform suctioning (naso-tracheal endotracheal tracheostomy) and assist with tracheostomy tube changes.
- Provide trach care in conjunction with nursing staff.
- Assess and administer PEP CPT and other airway clearance modalities.
- Administer aerosolized and metered dose medications.
- Manage troubleshoot and maintain non-invasive ventilation.
- Participate in multidisciplinary rounds providing clinical expertise.
- Document accurately and completely in EMR; ensure correct billing through daily charge reconciliation.
- Interact positively and respectfully with providers staff patients and families.
- Precept train and orient new staff students and other departments as required.
- Maintain equipment supplies and stock.
- Attend professional development activities and educational programs as needed.
- Deliver service excellence to all patients families and colleagues.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

- Ability to read write and communicate in English.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT).
- Massachusetts state license in Respiratory Therapy.
- Current BLS certification.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
- Minimum one year critical care experience preferred.
