Job Summary

Overview

The Medical Services Manager provides hands-on nursing leadership and oversight for Vanguard Landings resident health services medication-management systems clinical documentation healthcare coordination and staff education. The position works closely with residents families and guardians physicians pharmacies VGL leadership and Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to promote safe timely person-centered care.

The Medical Services Manager performs all duties within the lawful scope of the employees LPN or RN license and follows all applicable requirements for supervision delegation assessment documentation and clinical practice. The role combines direct clinical support with dependable day-to-day coordination and accountability.

This is a full-time hourly non-exempt position generally scheduled for approximately 40 hours per workweek. Could be a shared position with two LPNs or RNs to still cover the same workweek. The actual schedule may include daytime hours and occasional early-morning evening weekend holiday or emergency coverage based on resident and operational needs.

Essential Qualifications

  • Current unrestricted Virginia LPN or RN license in good standing or eligibility to practice in Virginia through the Nurse Licensure Compact.
  • Graduate of an accredited practical nursing or registered nursing program.
  • At least two years of relevant nursing experience; experience coordinating health services for multiple individuals is strongly preferred.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification or ability to obtain within the timeframe required by VGL.
  • Ability to satisfy all required criminal-history barrier-crime registry tuberculosis-screening and other employment clearances.
  • Strong clinical judgment organization follow-through communication documentation and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and VGL privacy expectations.
  • Proficiency with electronic health records eMAR systems email and routine office technology.
  • Experience with Adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.

Preferred Experience

  • Supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in supervised living supported living group homes assisted living long-term care or community-based services.
  • Medication administration medication audits seizure protocols and rescue medications enteral-feeding/G-tube supports infection prevention and emergency response.
  • Training coaching supervising or evaluating DSPs or medication-administration staff.
  • Using an electronic medication administration record (eMAR) including Impruvon or a comparable system.
  • Working with behavioral supports and interdisciplinary teams while protecting dignity choice and the least-restrictive approach.
