The Lowboy Driver is responsible for the safe transportation of heavy equipment oversized loads and construction materials to and from company facilities landfill operations and project sites. This position ensures equipment is delivered safely efficiently and in compliance with all federal state and local transportation regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Operate tractor-trailer combinations and lowboy trailers to transport heavy equipment and oversized loads.
Load secure transport and unload equipment safely and efficiently.
Perform pre-trip en-route and post-trip inspections.
Ensure all loads are properly secured and comply with DOT regulations.
Obtain and comply with oversize and overweight permits as required.
Coordinate deliveries and pickups with dispatch project managers superintendents and equipment personnel.
Maintain accurate driver logs inspection reports and required documentation.
Assist with equipment inspections and minor maintenance as needed.
Report accidents incidents equipment damage and safety concerns immediately.
Maintain a professional appearance and represent the company positively with customers and the public.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Valid Class A Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with acceptable driving record.
Minimum of 3 years of tractor-trailer driving experience preferred.
Experience hauling heavy equipment and oversized loads preferred.
Knowledge of DOT regulations and load securement requirements.
Ability to obtain and maintain required endorsements and certifications.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Strong understanding of heavy equipment transportation and load securement practices.
Ability to safely maneuver oversized loads in construction demolition and landfill environments.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and adapt to changing schedules and priorities.
Commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.
Physical Requirements
Ability to climb bend kneel crouch and secure loads.
Ability to enter and exit trucks and equipment frequently.
Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds occasionally.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Work Environment
Work is performed on public roadways construction sites demolition projects and landfill facilities. Exposure to traffic dust noise uneven terrain and adverse weather conditions should be expected.
