Our Low Voltage Power Supply Architecture team is at the forefront of this transformation ensuring that the complex electrical nervous system of our vehicles is indestructible. We are seeking a high-energy detail-oriented FMA (Failure Mode Analysis) Engineer to join our dynamic team in Dearborn.

The Opportunity: In this mission-critical role you will be part of a cutting-edge team revolutionizing Power Supply Architectures for our next-generation vehicles across global platforms. As the reliability architect you will ensure the robustness of the foundational electrical systems that power everything from advanced infotainment to safety-critical autonomous driving capabilities. This position demands a proactive systems-thinking approach integrating expertise from electrical design failure physics and functional safety to deliver indestructible solutions. You wont just analyze systems; you will influence the very DNA of Fords future vehicle platforms.



Responsibilities

What youll do...

  • Lead Robustness Analysis: Spearhead the FMA (Failure Mode Analysis) process for 12V and 48V Power Supply Architectures identifying potential failure modes early in the design cycle to influence architectural decisions.

  • Architect Failure Models: Develop and maintain comprehensive Boundary Diagrams P-Diagrams and Interface Matrices to visualize and document system interactions and potential error states within the Power Supply Architecture.

  • Drive DFMEA Excellence: Facilitate and lead Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) sessions with cross-functional teams ensuring that every potential risk in the power distribution and management system is mitigated.

  • Collaborate on Design Integration: Act as a key interface with component engineers and system architects to ensure the hardware Power Supply Architecture is optimized for maximum uptime fault tolerance and seamless vehicle integration.

  • Innovate with AI: Leverage AI-driven tools and modern data methods to automate failure mode detection and optimize the efficiency of the FMA process.



Qualifications

Youll have...

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering Computer Engineering Systems Engineering Aerospace Engineering Mechanical Engineering Physics or a closely related technical field.

  • Demonstrated experience in the design analysis sizing or verification of automotive electrical systems specifically with low voltage Power Supply Architectures (12V and/or 48V).

  • 3 years of demonstrated experience and strong understanding of Systems Engineering principles and FMA/FMEA methodologies (e.g. DFMEA Boundary Diagrams P-Diagrams).

  • Experience in applying ISO 26262 functional safety standards (or equivalent safety-critical industry standards) in a hardware or systems domain.

  • Capability to effectively utilize AI tools and methods for analysis optimization or engineering problem-solving.

Even better you may have...

  • Masters degree or Ph.D. in one of the aforementioned engineering fields or a specialized focus in Power Electronics or Control Systems.

  • 3 years of experience with complex vehicle electrical architectures and automotive power distribution systems on 12V and 48V.

  • 5 years of demonstrated experience and strong understanding of Systems Engineering principles and FMA/FMEA methodologies (e.g. DFMEA Boundary Diagrams P-Diagrams).

  • Familiarity with Ford engineering processes and tools such as Ford Engineering Design Environment (FEDE) Jama Global Product Development System (GPDS) and Jira.

  • Professional certification in Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt) or Reliability Engineering (CRE).

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with a challenger mindsetthe ability to proactively identify and resolve complex technical challenges by collaborating across multidisciplinary teams.

This position is a salary grade 6 to 8 and ranges from $74300 - $166200.

Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidates skills and experience and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope responsibility and competitive market value.
