Title: Low Voltage Inspector Electrical and IT
Position Description
- The Electrical / IT Inspector will support Owners Quality Assurance & Construction Inspection Division across multiple projects within Owners Capital Improvement Program.
- Candidates must possess a current ICC certi cation as Commercial Electrical Inspector to apply.
- Successfully hired Candidates must provide Proof of NFPA 70E standards training within the last 3 years and Proof of Cal-OSHA 30 hr. training within the last 4 years prior to assignment
- Successfully hired candidates must have Owners SIDA badge prior to o cial start.
- Must be able to work any assigned shift - day swing or night - as required to meet the contractors construction schedule.
Essential Job Duties
- Conduct comprehensive daily inspections of electrical and IT systems across building and terminal construction projects ensuring compliance with applicable codes and project speci cations review and interpret construction documents including blueprints and shop drawings submittals RFIs and change orders.
- Demonstrates strong pro ciency in preparing comprehensive daily inspection reports that clearly document the WHO WHAT WHEN WHERE and HOW of all observed construction activities ensuring accuracy clarity and accountability in tracking progress and identifying issues de ciencies or safety concerns in a timely manner.
- Verify contractor compliance with local and national electrical codes (e.g. NEC NFPA 70 70E 72) and LAWA-speci c standards.
- Track and document time-and-material work eld changes and job quantities
- Assist in validating contractor progress payment requests based on an approved schedule of values.
- Support special inspections and testing activities coordinating with engineers contractors and third-party agencies as needed.
Perform inspections of electrical installations including but not limited to:
- Underground utilities and duct banks
- High-voltage switchgear and electrical panels
- Conduit racks conductors and grounding systems
- Interior and exterior lighting systems
- Fire life safety systems including smoke/heat detectors and FM-200 suppression systems
- Electrical shutdowns lockout/tagout procedures and breaker coordination
Inspect IT infrastructure installations such as:
- Low-voltage systems (voice/data security access control)
- Door card readers security cameras and public address (P.A.) systems
- Communication cabling and equipment rooms
Hardware/Software Knowledge
- Knowledge of Project Management Information Software used for inspection/document control (i.e. Microsoft O ce Outlook Xcel Word PM Web Adobe Pro Bluebeam etc.)
- Computer pro ciency to review and utilize electronic equipment for contract documents e ciently including change orders submittals RFIs and other inspection documents with minimal supervision.
Professional Experience Level/Other Quali cations
- Three (3) years or more experience performing electrical/IT inspections for Building Construction.
- Experience at the journey-level as an electrician with a focus on the installation and repair of electrical systems in public works institutional commercial or industrial settings.
- Experience overseeing and ensuring compliance with building codes and regulations on signi cant construction projects.
- Involvement in complex projects that require coordination with multiple stakeholders including contractors engineers and city o cials.
- Expertise in identifying and addressing de ciencies ensuring that all aspects of construction meet the required standards.
- Must be open to learning the prescriptive items required by the agency.
- A strong understanding of diverse code requirements
- Excellent communication and time management skills.
Certifications and Trainings:
- ICC Commercial Electrical Inspector (E2) Certifications
- Cal-OSHA 30 hr. Training within the last 4 years Certifications
- NFPA 70E Standards Training Certification within the last 3 years
- NFPA 70 & 72 Training & knowledge
- Fall Protection and harness Training Certification
Education
- High school diploma (or equivalent)
Compensation
- This role is salaried/exempt with a base annual salary range of $127900.00 - $137900.00 and commensurate with skill education experience and work location.
- This role is bonus eligible after 6 months of employment.
