Job Summary

Ashland Middle School is seeking a dynamic student-centered Long-Term Substitute Teacher to teach Grade 7 Engineering from end of August through December 2026.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging hands-on engineering instruction that fosters creativity problem-solving collaboration and critical thinking. The position includes planning and implementing lessons aligned with district curriculum assessing student learning maintaining a positive classroom environment and collaborating with colleagues to support student success.

Responsibilities
  • Teach Grade 7 Engineering classes using established curriculum and instructional materials.
  • Create a safe engaging and inclusive learning environment.
  • Facilitate hands-on engineering and design challenges that encourage student inquiry and innovation.
  • Assess student progress and provide timely feedback.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance grades and student performance.
  • Communicate effectively with students families and staff.
  • Collaborate with grade-level teams and participate in faculty meetings and professional responsibilities as required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree required.
  • Massachusetts teaching license in Technology/Engineering preferred. Math or science license also acceptable.
  • Experience teaching middle school students preferred.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills.
  • Ability to foster positive relationships with students families and colleagues.
  • Commitment to creating an equitable and inclusive learning environment.
