Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Long-Term Sub fromOctober 20 2026-March 12 2027 with EBD licensure preferred at the ACGC PreK-4 Building. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with students with diverse learning needs and will be committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom environment. This long-term substitute position requires a collaborative approach to teaching and a strong ability to develop individualized education plans (IEPs) that meet each students unique needs.
Responsibilities
- Implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs ensuring alignment with state and federal regulations
- Create and maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and participation
- Collaborate with general education teachers specialists and parents to support the students academic and social-emotional growth
- Assess and monitor student progress through formal and informal evaluations adjusting instructional strategies as needed
- Provide direct instruction and support to students in both one-on-one and small group settings
- Utilize appropriate teaching strategies and assistive technology to enhance learning experiences for students with varying abilities
- Participate in and lead IEP meetings parent-teacher conferences and other collaborative planning sessions
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and progress reporting findings to parents and school administration
- Stay current with best practices in special education and participate in ongoing professional development
- Foster a supportive and respectful classroom culture that promotes diversity and inclusion
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Special Education or related field
- Valid MN teaching license with endorsement in Special Education - EBD preferred (other licensure areas may still apply)
- Experience working with students with disabilities in an educational setting
- Strong understanding of or desire to learn special education laws regulations and best practices
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with students families and colleagues
- Ability to adapt instructional methods and materials to meet diverse learning needs
- Proficient in using technology and educational software to enhance learning and organize data
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable learning environment for all students
Work Days & Compensation: 82 - ACGC operates on a 4-day school week schedule; sick leave will accrue at the rate established by ESST parameters.
