Job Summary
Long Term Sub: Upper School History Teacher
Friends Select School is seeking a 10th Grade Upper School history teacher to cover a quarter-long leave. The position includes teaching three sections of 10th grade Modern World History II and one section of Introduction to Psychology a senior elective course. Dates for the leave are September 8 2026 to November 20 2026
The ideal candidate will take a friendly and collaborative approach to teaching in order to create an inclusive learning environment for all students.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Friends Select School is seeking a 10th Grade Upper School history teacher to cover a quarter-long leave. The position includes teaching three sections of 10th grade Modern World History II and one section of Introduction to Psychology a senior elective course. Dates for the leave are September 8 2026 to November 20 2026
The ideal candidate will take a friendly and collaborative approach to teaching in order to create an inclusive learning environment for all students.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach sections listed above and potentially lead an advisory and/or a club
- Prepare for classes including grading homework and assessments and posting work on the schools LMS
- Meet with students when they need extra help and communicate home for persistent struggles
- Communicate with the guidance team and families about students who need additional support
- Maintaining and updating Blackbaud (the schools LMS) for each class
- Write end of quarter narrative comments
Qualifications/Skills:
- Undergraduate degree in history or related subject
- Experience teaching history preferably for grades 9-12
- Experience and proficiency using a Learning Management System (Blackbaud) preferred
