Job Summary:
The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for planning coordinating and monitoring the movement of inflows and outflows of materials in the plant to include receiving outside vender service and customer shipments to ensure on-time delivery while maintaining compliance with company policies and customer requirements. This position works cross-functionally with Production Planning Purchasing Quality Engineering and Materials teams support operational goals improve supply chain performance and resolve logistics challenges.
Essential Functions:
- Coordinate inbound and outbound domestic and international shipments.
- Schedule and monitor freight carriers to ensure on-time pickup and delivery.
- Communicate with customers suppliers and transportation providers regarding shipment status and delivery requirements.
- Prepare and maintain shipping documentation to include bills of lading customs paperwork packing list CofCs and other required logistics records.
- Track shipments and proactively resolve delays shortages or transportation issues.
- Collaborate with Production Planning and Purchasing to ensure material availability and support production schedules.
- Analyze transportation costs and recommend cost-saving opportunities while maintaining service levels.
- Monitor inventory movement and work with materials personnel to ensure inventory accuracy.
- Coordinate expedited shipments when required to support customer commitments.
- Ensure compliance with DOT import/export regulations customer requirements and company policies.
- Maintain accurate logistics data within ERP systems and generate reports related to shipping performance freight costs and key logistics metrics.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to improve logistics efficiency and reduce costs.
- Support physical inventories and cycle count activities as needed.
- Assist with developing and documenting logistics processes and standard operating procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position does not have direct supervisory authority but is expected to provide leadership training mentoring and guidance to other paint team members.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience coordinating domestic and international shipments.
- Working knowledge of ERP systems (SAP Oracle Plex Epicor or similar).
- Strong understanding of inventory control and transportation processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite particularly Excel.
- Excellent organizational communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Education & Experience
- Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management Logistics Business Administration or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3 years of logistics transportation supply chain or materials coordination experience in a manufacturing environment.
Background Prerequisites:
Must undergo and meet company standards for background check employment verification reference checks physical and controlled substance testing.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in defense automotive or heavy manufacturing industries.
- Knowledge of import/export documentation and customs regulations.
- APICS ASCM or Certified Logistics Associate (CLA) certification.
- Experience with government contracts or regulated manufacturing environments.
