Special Education Coordinator (Teacher Leader) Position Description

The Special Education Coordinator serves as a teacher leader who provides ongoing support mentorship and guidance to special education teachers and instructional assistants. This role collaborates with administrators and staff to strengthen instructional practices ensure compliance with special education requirements and promote student success.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Mentor and support special education teachers and instructional assistants.

• Assist with developing and maintaining special education schedules and service delivery.

• Lead and facilitate professional learning opportunities related to special education.

• Provide guidance with special education documentation timelines and paperwork to support compliance.

• Collaborate with administration and staff to problem-solve student needs and improve instructional practices.

• Serve as a resource for implementing effective interventions accommodations and modifications.

• Foster positive communication and collaboration among special education staff general education teachers families and related service providers.

• Support the continuous improvement of the schools special education program through coaching collaboration and leadership.

This position is intended to build the capacity of the special education team while ensuring high-quality services and support for students with disabilities.
