Locum Nurse Practitioner Urgent Care

**Profession/Specialty:** Nurse Practitioner (NP); Physician Assistant (PA) - Urgent Care

**Dates of Coverage:** Required for 3 days per week commencing upon successful credentialing.

**Schedule:** Clinics operate 7 days a week from 8 AM to 8 PM. Shifts are 12 hours or longer depending on patient volume with an expectation to manage all patients presenting during operational hours.

**Number of Providers Needed:** 3 full-time providers (3 shifts per week each totaling 9 shifts per week)

**Practice Setting:** Clinic

**Patient Population:** Comprehensive coverage from birth to end-of-life with variability in acuity and complexity across different clinics and days.

**Patient Care Model:** 100% outpatient

**Average Patient Volume:** Varies by clinic typically ranging from 25 to 50 patients per day with higher volumes expected during cold and flu season.

**Trauma Level Designation:** Primarily episodic care; cases requiring higher acuity will be redirected to emergency departments.

**Required Duties Procedures Skills:**- Laceration repairs (simple to complex)

- Incision and drainage (including packing)

- Foreign body removal

- Minor burn management

- Skin lesion care

- Orthopedic injury stabilization (including splinting and casting)

- Joint reduction- Diagnostic and point-of-care testing- X-ray interpretation

- Electrocardiogram (EKG) evaluation- Point-of-care laboratory interpretation (rapid strep flu COVID-19 RSV urinalysis blood glucose)

- Epistaxis management (anterior nasal packing chemical cautery)

- Cerumen impaction removal- Airway support (administration of nebulizer treatments initial emergency stabilization)

**Credentialing:**- **Estimated Timeframe:** 60 to 90 days-

**Shift Description:**12-hour shifts from 8 AM to 8 PM with a commitment of 3 shifts per week.

**Mandated Job Requirements:**- Board Certified (required)

- Active Virginia state license (required)

- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required)- Active DEA registration (required)

- Minimum of 1 year of experience in ED/ER primary care or urgent care (required)

- Clean background with no malpractice or licensing issues (required)

- Client policy excludes travel costs; candidates must be local or provide inclusive rates (required)

**Certification Requirements:**- BLS- Board Certified

- DEA Registration

**License Requirements:**- Virginia state licensure
