Job Summary

Under the general or direct supervision of a Locksmith Sub-Foreman or other designated supervisor performs tasks in the repair and maintenance of locks and related hardware.

Duties & Responsibilities
  1. repairs and maintains locks and related hardware (such as making and installing new parts changing lock combinations making new or duplicate keys from patterns or codes);
  2. repairs replaces and maintains door closers;
  3. opens locks that have no known combinations or no keys;
  4. identifies keys maintains key records and maintains security;
  5. performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Current licensure as a Locksmith by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR).
  3. Four (4) years (48 months) of work experience in the repair and maintenance of locks door checks and related hardware and in the making and duplication of keys including apprenticeship and/or vocational training.
Appointment Information

This posting is for testing purposes only. Salary for this classification is based on the prevailing rate and is currently $39.42 per hour.
