The LMS 7th Grade 1st Assistant Volleyball Coach helps provide a positive organized and skill-focused experience for student-athletes at Lakeside Middle School. Working under the direction of the Head Volleyball Coach the assistant provides instruction supervision encouragement and consistent support throughout the season.
This role helps students learn the game build confidence and understand the value of teamwork accountability and sportsmanship. The successful candidate will be a steady presence for student-athletes and a collaborative member of the volleyball coaching staff.
Salary: The salary range for the position is: Min. $1530 to Max. $2720. Salary placement will be at Step 0 of the Coaches Agreement unless documentation of experience is received per the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Nature and Scope of Position:
The Lakeside Middle School 7th Grade 1st Assistant Volleyball Coach assists the Head Volleyball Coach in the instruction supervision and development of student-athletes participating in the 7th grade volleyball program. The position supports practices competitions safety equipment eligibility expectations and team operations in accordance with WIAA league district school and athletic-department requirements.

Primary Job Functions
- Assist the Head Volleyball Coach with the Lakeside Middle School 7th grade volleyball program.
- Provide instruction and supervision for assigned student-athletes and team activities.
- Assist with planning and conducting practices that emphasize age-appropriate volleyball fundamentals skill development strategy conditioning and safe participation.
- Teach individual and team volleyball skills and techniques appropriate for middle school competition.
- Provide appropriate supervision during practices competitions travel and other assigned team activities.
- Promote accountability teamwork respect sportsmanship and a positive team culture.
- Maintain appropriate team discipline and model professional respectful conduct.
- Communicate participation expectations team rules and eligibility requirements to student-athletes as directed by the Head Coach or Athletic Director.
- Prioritize student safety and follow district procedures for injuries concussion management sudden cardiac arrest awareness emergency response and reporting concerns.
- Communicate with the Head Volleyball Coach regarding practices competitions player development student concerns and program needs.
- Follow all applicable WIAA league district school and athletic-department rules procedures and expectations.
- Maintain required certifications and complete required district and WIAA training.
- Assist with equipment uniforms inventory upkeep facility use and team records as assigned.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with students families coaching staff school personnel and administration.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Head Volleyball Coach or Athletic Director.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification or ability to obtain certification before the start of the season.
- Ability to complete required training including:
- Concussion Management Training
- Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Training
- WIAA-required coaching education and clock hours
- District-directed training including applicable Vector training
- Ability to meet Washington State Patrol and FBI fingerprint-clearance requirements.
- Knowledge of safe and effective volleyball fundamentals techniques and player development appropriate for middle school students.
- Ability to instruct supervise and communicate effectively with middle school-aged student-athletes.
- Commitment to student safety positive relationships sportsmanship and equitable treatment of students.
- Successful experience playing or coaching volleyball at the secondary collegiate club or comparable competitive level.
- Experience working with middle school-aged students.
- Demonstrated ability to motivate and instruct young athletes.
- Demonstrated ability to teach fundamental skills while building student confidence and a positive team culture.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with coaches families school staff and administration.
