Job Summary

The Springfield JCC has been award the Davis Foundation Literacy Grant for 2026-2027 school year! We looking to add a qualified Literacy Specialist for a one year fellowship. This role is 20 hours per week non-benefitted compensated at a rate of $52000.

The Literacy Specialist is responsible for designing and implementing effective educational programs that meet the needs of students and meet high standards of excellence by designing instructional frameworks selecting teaching materials and analyzing student data. This position also focuses on mentoring teachers delivering professional development and evaluating learning outcomes.

The Literacy Specialist supports classroom and teacher development. The Literacy Specialist assists in reviewing externally produced content and resources.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate and facilitate school-wide literacy programs and meet regularly with the classroom teachers to plan literacy instruction that correlates with the individual students needs or as requested by the classroom teacher.

  • Provide support to teachers and provide strategies to improve instruction that will support literacy growth across the curriculum and assist struggling students to improve their literacy skills.

  • Identify and prioritize areas for improvement by mentoring teachers assist with lesson planning and co-teach in classrooms to ensure successful curriculum implementation. identify learning gaps and suggest adjustments to instructional approaches.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must meet the MA EEC minimum hiring requirements for Assistants

  • Must have at least one(1) year of experience caring for/working with children

  • Bachelors degree (Masters degree in Education Curriculum Design or a related field is highly preferred).

  • Experience with instructional coaching and/or instructional design and assessment development preferred.

  • Strong project management and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

  • Certification of EEC T P; T I/T; or higher preferred.
