Literacy Facilitator (Elementary)

Job Summary
Literacy Facilitator positions are contingent upon grant and/or categorical funding on a year by year basis. Salary based on the contracted certificated salary schedule with step and column designation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Facilitate site and/or district professional development activities in conjunction with District Professional Development
Provide coaching and feedback to teachers and/or site literacy facilitators
Demonstrate model lessons
Work with District Educational Services
Attend workshops and trainings related to the development of skills needed in this position
Facilitate and/or participate in Literacy Facilitator committee meetings
Provide all other duties as directed
Essential Job Functions:
Support/assist classroom teachers with classroom goals and individual student plans
Build instructional capacity at the site and district levels
Collaborate with school personnel parents and various community agencies for the purpose of improving teaching and learning
Assist site literacy facilitators and teachers in analyzing student assessment data to make instructional decisions
Provide training or follow-up coaching support to teachers at the site and/or district levels
Direct instructional paraprofessionals and volunteers for the purpose of providing an effective school program and addressing the needs of individual students
Organize and implement state district and site testing programs
Other Job Functions
Advise parents and/or legal guardians of student progress for the purpose of supporting teachers expectations developing methods for improvement and/or reinforcing classroom goals in the home environment
Facilitate and/or participate in district support sessions for literacy facilitators Participate in various meetings (in-service training site meetings etc.) for the purpose of receiving and/or providing information
Assist teachers in developing lessons and instructional strategies that reflect the California ELD Standards and the California ELA Standards
Job Requirements Qualifications:
Experience required: Prior job related experience
Skills Knowledge and/or Abilities Required:
- Skills in appropriate content subject matter
- Knowledge of curriculum education code district policies
- Abilities to stand and walk for prolonged periods perform a variety of specialized and responsible tasks maintain records establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students parents other school personnel meet schedule and deadlines.
- Significant physical abilities include lifting/carrying reaching/handling talking/hearing conversations near/far visual acuity/depth perception/accommodation/field of vision
Licenses Certifications Bonding and/or Testing Required:
- Teaching Credential for appropriate level of instruction and/or subjects
- Criminal Justice Fingerprint clearance.
