An Introduction to Glenstone Museum
Founded with the mission to seamlessly integrate art architecture and nature Glenstone is a world-class contemporary art museum in Potomac Maryland. Opened in 2006 and expanded in 2018 the museum welcomes visitors to a unique experience of indoor and outdoor spaces enveloped by 300 acres of organically maintained meadow and woodlands. Admission is always free.

Glenstone is open Thursday Sunday 10 AM to 5 PM. The museum offers visitors two dining venues the Café and the Patio which feature seasonal menu items made from locally sourced ingredients. The Café is a sit-down restaurant and the patio is an upscale coffee house.
Position Overview
Reporting to the Chef the Line Cook provides direct hands-on production in the kitchen for the Museum Café. Under direction of the Chef the Line Cook will provide support setting up the kitchen receiving deliveries preparing mis en place (e.g. chopping vegetables breaking down meat and poultry preparing sauces) for multiple stations prior to service cooking and plating menu items during service breaking down and cleaning the kitchen at the end of each day taking inventory and preparing for the next service.
The cuisine at Glenstone is aligned with the Visitor Experience; unhurried simple yet elegant designed to nourish as well as delight the palate and enhance the opportunity to repast and reflect. Art is essential at Glenstone and this extends to culinary artistry. The menu will feature locally sourced sensibly raised ingredients.
This is a full-time position supporting the Café and Patio operations focusing primarily on lunch service for visitors.
Desired Attributes & Characteristics
Seeking a candidate with strong communication skills a positive attitude and enjoys working with a team. The successful candidate will take pride in creating food dishes that are both visually appealing as well as delicious.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepping ingredients preparing sauces and assembling dishes.
- Cooking dishes to order following recipes and ensuring consistent quality and taste.
- Setting up and maintaining your station including stocking supplies cleaning and sanitizing equipment.
- Working effectively with other Café staff to ensure smooth operation and timely service.
- Work with the Chef to optimize resource management safety sanitation and speed of service.
- Act as or support the expediter during service.
- Uphold culinary standards and regulations including adherence to established HACCP guidelines.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of full-time experience in a full service from-scratch kitchen including experience as a line chef restaurant cook or prep cook.
- Strong cultural competence interpersonal communication planning and organizational skills
- Accuracy and speed in handling emergency situations and providing solutions.
- Current SERV Safe certification and ability to maintain and enforce certification standards (Glenstone will provide ongoing training and certification.)
- Flexible schedule including weekend and evening hours.
- Able to bend stoop and lift 50 lbs.
- Reliable transportation to Potomac MD and a valid drivers license.
- COVID-19 vaccination and up to date on all boosters.
- High level of reliability and punctuality.
- Allergen awareness training.
