Light Welder
Job Summary
Position Summary
The Light Welder supports manufacturing operations by performing basic welding and fabrication tasks under close supervision. This entry-level role is responsible for completing standard production welds interpreting simple blueprints and work instructions conducting basic weld inspections and maintaining a safe and organized work environment. The Light Welder will develop proficiency in multiple welding processes while contributing to the production of high-quality products.
Principal Activities
- Perform standard production welds and basic repair welding using established procedures.
- Read and follow simple blueprints drawings work instructions and specifications.
- Assist with the setup operation and routine maintenance of welding equipment.
- Perform basic visual inspections of completed welds to identify obvious defects.
- Maintain quality standards by following established manufacturing and inspection procedures.
- Meet production schedules while maintaining workmanship and safety standards.
- Keep the work area clean organized and free of hazards.
- Follow all company policies quality standards and safety procedures including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Participate in training to develop proficiency in MIG TIG and Stick welding processes.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Candidate Qualifications Skills & Experience
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Vocational welding training or completion of a welding apprenticeship preferred.
- Basic AWS certification or company-specific welding certifications preferred; willingness to obtain additional certifications as required.
- Basic proficiency in MIG TIG and Stick welding on common steels.
- Ability to read and interpret simple blueprints drawings and work instructions with guidance.
- Basic knowledge of welding equipment setup operation and routine maintenance.
- Ability to perform basic visual inspections of welds; final inspection performed under supervisory guidance.
- Working knowledge of OSHA safety requirements PPE fire prevention and ventilation practices.
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn manufacturing processes.
- Ability to work under close supervision while developing technical skills and increasing responsibility.
- Ability to lift stand bend and perform other physical requirements of a manufacturing environment.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship both now and in the future.
