Lifeguard Open Application Pool

In surveying the grounds of what is now Wittenberg University the Rev. Ezra Keller the colleges first president and founder remarked: This is a lovely spot for a literary institution. Today that lovely spot encompasses more than 100 acres of rolling hills and hollows in southwestern Ohio with architecturally distinctive structures that embrace Wittenbergs past and provide a beautiful backdrop to the teaching excellence and Lutheran-affiliated learning environment that has defined Wittenberg University since its founding in 1845. Wittenberg University is seeking temporary lifeguards to ensure the safety of student-athletes and patrons in the pool area. This is a non-exempt (hourly) position reporting to the Assistant Coach - Swimming & Diving/Aquatics Coordinator. This is a temporary position working no more than 20 hours per week and is not eligible for university benefits.

Essential responsibilities include:

1. Supervise the pool area during swimming/diving practices meets and/or open swim time.
2. Ensure the safety and well-being of all patrons.
3. Perform and record chemical readings.
4. Enforce pool rules in a professional manner.
5. Respond to emergencies.
6. Care for injuries sudden illnesses and other medical emergencies ( first aid CPR etc.).
7. Maintain working relationshipswith building staff university staff facilities and patrons.

• Candidates must be at least 18 years of age. Current Wittenberg students must apply through the Handshake application.
• Lifeguarding First Aid CPR and AED certifications required.
• 1-3 years lifeguard experience.
• Familiarity with the pool chemical testing process.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Punctual and reliable.
