Life Sciences Patent Prosecution Associate– Philadelphia

Ice Miller LLP is seeking a highly motivated Intellectual Property Associate with at least 2 years of experience in life sciences patenting. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with an advanced degree and strong background in biological sciences to work on sophisticated patent matters for clients ranging from Fortune 50 to start-up innovative companies.

This position is open to candidates in any Ice Miller office preferably in Philadelphia.

Responsibilities:

As a member of our Intellectual Property team you will:

• Prepare file and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications in the life sciences sector.
• Conduct freedom-to-operate IP due diligence infringement validity and patent landscape searches and analyses.
• Advise clients on patent issues throughout the product lifecycle including strategic consultation portfolio management and patent enforcement.
• Collaborate with clients colleagues the USPTO and foreign associates regarding domestic and international patent prosecution matters.
• Contribute to a collaborative entrepreneurial environment that supports professional growth and client service excellence.

Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will possess:

• at least 2 years of experience as a patent attorney in biotechnology.
• Advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred) in biological sciences e.g. molecular biology cell biology microbiology immunology genetics etc. Superior academic credentials.
• Experience in preparing and prosecuting patent applications relating to biologics or other large-molecule technologies.
• Experience in conducting searches and analyses for freedom-to-operate IP due diligence infringement validity and patent landscape assessments.
• Registration to practice before the USPTO in good standing.
• Admission to at least one State bar.
• Prior law firm experience preferred.
• Excellent analytical writing communication and organizational skills.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• A collaborative approach sound judgment and a commitment to exceptional client service.
