Position Summary:
The primary responsibility of a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is to provide clinical services within the LPN scope of practice defined by the Florida Nurse Practice Actas directed by the Division physicians.
Education Training and Certification
- High school diploma or certificate from an accredited LPN nursing program.
- Active and unrestricted State of Florida LPN Licensure.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Experience
- One year of LPN experience working in a medical practice.
Skills
- Working knowledge of:
- Medical equipment and clinical instruments
- Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain licensure and BLS certification.
- Obtain vital signs and other clinical assessments as indicated and document in the EMR.
- Accurately administer medications immunizations and treatments as prescribed by physicians with adherence to protocols.
- Assist the practitioner with patient examinations and treatments.
- Gather review and organize patient documentation and prior medical records for evaluation by the practitioner.
- Perform charting and clerical tasks including processing prescription requests and coordinating refills with pharmacies.
- Triage patient phone calls to identify emergent and non-emergent situations and escalate concerns appropriately.
- Maintain efficient patient flow by coordinating rooming procedures and follow-up activities to ensure seamless patient care
- Clean and disinfect exam rooms and equipment between patients in accordance with OSHA and infection control protocols.
- Provide patients with educational materials and guidance to support informed treatment decisions.
- Accurately document patient encounters treatments and communications in the EMR system.
- Respond promptly to medical emergencies and seek immediate assistance from senior clinical staff.
- Exercise sound judgment discretion and initiative in performing assigned duties and supporting clinic operations.
