Soccer moves quickly. Players have to communicate trust one another and recover when the ball takes an unfortunate bounceor when everyone is certain the other team was offside except the referee. A good assistant coach helps student-athletes stay composed learn from the moment and remain focused on what comes next.

As the LHS 1st Assistant Boys Soccer Coach you will work alongside the Head Coach to support student-athletes at different stages of development. Some may arrive with years of competitive experience while others are still learning how to see the field and play as part of a team. Effective instruction is paramount and positive relationships are foundational to helping each athlete improve.

The best assistant coaches know when to teach when to encourage and when to reinforce the expectations of the program. We are looking for someone who understands soccer communicates well and will help create a team where students are challenged supported and proud to represent Lakeside. If you enjoy helping young athletes develop their game without needing to be the loudest voice on the sideline we would like to hear from you.

Salary: The salary range for the position is Min. $3103 to Max. $4015. Salary placement will be at Step 0 of the Coaches Agreement unless documentation of experience is received in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Nature and Scope of Position

The LHS 1st Assistant Boys Soccer Coach assists the Head Boys Soccer Coach with the instruction supervision and development of student-athletes participating in the Lakeside High School boys soccer program. The position supports practices competitions student safety eligibility requirements equipment management and team operations while reinforcing the direction and expectations established by the Head Coach.

Primary Job Functions

• Assist the Head Boys Soccer Coach with the Lakeside High School boys soccer program.
• Support the planning and organization of practices competitions team activities and program operations.
• Lead practices groups drills or assigned team responsibilities under the direction of the Head Coach.
• Provide instruction in soccer fundamentals individual skills team concepts positioning conditioning game preparation and safe participation techniques.
• Adapt instruction to support student-athletes with different levels of experience and ability.
• Prepare student-athletes for competition through organized developmentally appropriate and safe practices.
• Reinforce the programs expectations for effort attendance conduct communication and commitment.
• Promote accountability teamwork leadership respect sportsmanship and a positive team culture.
• Maintain appropriate team discipline and model professional and respectful conduct.
• Supervise student-athletes during practices competitions travel locker-room use and other assigned team activities.
• Assist with coaching decisions during competitions in coordination with the Head Coach.
• Communicate participation expectations team rules schedules and eligibility requirements to student-athletes and families as directed by the Head Coach.
• Monitor student eligibility and support student-athletes in meeting academic attendance conduct and participation expectations.
• Prioritize student safety and follow District procedures concerning injuries concussion management sudden cardiac arrest awareness emergency response and the reporting of concerns.
• Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and protect the safety and well-being of students.
• Communicate regularly with the Head Coach regarding practices competitions student development concerns and program needs.
• Follow applicable WIAA league District school and athletic-department rules procedures and expectations.
• Maintain required certifications and complete all required District and WIAA training.
• Assist with uniforms equipment inventory facility use transportation coordination scheduling and team records as assigned.
• Communicate effectively and professionally with students families coaching staff officials school personnel and administration.
• Perform other related duties consistent with the position as assigned by the Head Coach or Athletic Director.

• At least 19 years of age as required by WIAA for an assistant coach.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Current First Aid and CPR certification or the ability to obtain certification before the start of the season.
• Ability to meet Washington State Patrol and FBI fingerprint-based background-check requirements.
• Ability to complete required WIAA coaching education rules clinics safety requirements and District-directed training.
• Knowledge of safe and effective soccer fundamentals techniques conditioning practices and game strategies.
• Ability to conduct organized drills and activities and provide appropriate supervision of student-athletes.
• Ability to instruct motivate supervise and communicate effectively with high school-aged students.
• Ability to work cooperatively under the direction of the Head Boys Soccer Coach.
• Ability to meet the scheduling travel and attendance responsibilities of the position.
• Commitment to student safety positive relationships sportsmanship professional boundaries and equitable treatment of students.

• Experience participating in or coaching soccer at the high school collegiate club or comparable level.
• Experience working with high school-aged students.
• Demonstrated ability to teach soccer fundamentals individual skills positioning and team concepts.
• Demonstrated ability to motivate and support developing student-athletes.
• A student-centered approach that promotes confidence discipline teamwork leadership resilience and sportsmanship.
• Ability to support the Head Coach in maintaining a positive organized competitive and inclusive soccer program.
• Ability to develop character and promote positive lifelong habits through athletics.
• Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with students families coaches school staff officials and administration.
