Job Summary

Applicants must have current authorization to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

The Legal Assistant II provides general support and office assistance to the Companys attorneys and legal group. This position will be responsible for using their knowledge and skills to assist in managing the Companys litigation and regulatory matters enhance the Companys legal and compliance processes and help maintain the Companys ethical and compliance standards. This position is also responsible for processing incoming regulatory complaints and demands to the Company and for identifying documenting and responding to complaints as appropriate. The position will report to staff or Corporate Counsel and will collaborate with other in-house Counsel / Paralegals and outside attorneys in pursuit of company goals and objectives. The Legal Assistant II will also provide training to Legal Assistant I.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Conduct initial review and analysis of incoming pleadings correspondence and other legal documents; draft pleadings settlement agreements dismissals discovery legal correspondence and memoranda for attorney review as required.

Interact with Midland outside counsel and Midland employees to gather information documentation or data as required for task at hand or act as authorized to resolve the identified matter.

Provide all aspects of legal and compliance support to the Legal team; organize update maintain and archive department files and records in a timely and accurate manner.

Assist the Legal department with projects as needed.

Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION: High School Diploma

EXPERIENCE: 1-3 years of experience in a Legal Assistant Paralegal or similar position.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS ABILITIES AND OTHER ATTRIBUTES:

  • Knowledge of FDCPA/FCRA/CFPB regulations and requirements.
  • Proficient with MS Office.
  • Ability to prioritize and work in a rapidly changing environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: Bachelors FIELD OF STUDY: Legal Studies or similar field

EXPERIENCE: Prior experience in a corporate setting preferred.

Starting Compensation

Hourly Rate: $20.00 - $21.50 (Amount based on office location relevant experience skills and competencies)
