The Department of Psychology at California State University San Marcos seeks a part-time lecturer for Fall 2026 to teach PSYC 220: Introductory Statistics in Psychology. Salary is commensurate with credential and experience.

Course description:

Basic statistical methods for analysis of data in psychology; descriptive and inferential statistics; hypothesis testing; parametric tests of significance. Introduction to linear regression and correlation; analysis of variance; nonparametric techniques. The requirements will include participation in low-risk psychological experiments or completion of additional short papers.

Minimum qualifications:

  • A masters degree in psychology or a relevant field
  • Successful experience teaching at the college level
  • Per the California State Universitys Out-of-State Employment Policy the CSU is prohibited from hiring employees to perform CSU-related work outside California. Working in the State of California is a condition of employment.

Preferred qualifications:

  • A doctorate in Psychology or a relevant field
  • Higher education experience teaching a particular class
  • Research experience relevant to the specific course content
  • Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate intercultural competence and a commitment to serving our campus community as it relates to teaching and as applicable service.

Salary commensurate with degree level and experience

  • AnticipatedHiring Salary Range: $5507 - $8000 per full-time month

The salary schedule information for the Lecturer Academic Year Classification is available based on the following ranges:

  • CSU Classification Salary RangeLecturer A - AY: $5507 - $6677 per full-time month
  • CSU Classification Salary RangeLecturer B - AY: $6221 - $13224 per full-time month

The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range commensurate with education and experience.
